G5 Mfg

I've never understood why some people are so reluctant to use material traders. Yes, the exchange rate is a rip-off when trading for high-grade stuff, but often it's still easier to find six times the quantity of something else. HGE's seem to work well for Core Dynamics Composites and Imperial Shielding, but after recently failing to find Proto Radiolic Alloys, I switched to harvesting dozens of Biotech Conductors and Exquisite Focus Crystals as mission rewards.

And though I have 11 engineered ships, I've never hunted down a single Pharmaceutical Isolator.

Just minute shy of 18 in game hrs focused on NOTHING but pharma isolators...haven’t found a single one.

I realize I could trade for them, but this is about principle.

WHAT A BAG OF CLOWN KOKS!

Fdevs bold incompetence is glaring in its blatant obviousness.

I hope your happy with the tuuurd sangwich you’re trying to feed us. Dang do I now REGRET buying all those paint jobs.

Listen children, FORGET CP, just give us a pvp toggle AND GET BACK TO MAKING THIS GAME GREAT.

Let the infants that like cramming their sacs in each others mouths go play fartnite...WE DONT NEED OR WANT THEM AROUND ANYWAY!

u ok hun?

At least you can still find Pharm Isolaters. If the search for those has frustrated you, I reccomend you never ever try the 'reinforced shields' modification.

Just farm Isinor for a while...even increases your combat rank 😎

(honestly these threads become boring after a while...mat traders obviously solve the problem 🙄🙄🙄)

Using only ingame tools to find those can be frustrating.
But that's why we have Inara.cz

Go on Inara, Galaxy (top menu), Systems and Stations (left menu), Nearest.
In the right side enter the system you are located (hopefully you are not in Fed Space), let it auto-complete, select then press Search
Now, in the middle, on the State line, select Outbreak.
You now have a list of Systems that have factions in Outbreak - in that list check some systems. The most populated one have better chance to spawn HGE's

All in All, Pharmaceutical Isolators are not even that hard to find. Outbreak is a quite common state.
Improvised Components, now that's another Story.

Hunting for HGE in Imperial space has another benefit: you will get a ton of Imperial Shielding.
Which you will be tempted very hard to trade for something else.
Oh wait, you are not using Traders. Nevermind.

It took considerable effort but I stumbled into a system (Anahit) that allowed me to top off Pharma Isolators in in 20 min.

Back to back Outbreak HGE’s. You know you’ve got Pharmas if the HGE max life is 15 min. I found that 35 min Empire Outbreak HGE’s never had Pharmas, while the 15 min ones always had them.

Why are you topping them off ?. Your bins don't need to be full you just need enough.

But the best time to collect materials is when you don't need them. Which is most of the time. I always feel best when I have good stocks of everything I use often, and topping them off sounds like good sense to me.

My main CMDR came back to the bubble with low supplies of most manufactued mats; after loads of combat he's now got at least 70 of everything but Imperial Shielding and Proto-Radiolic Alloys (which is pretty close) and I feel like he's ready to engineer whatever he likes when the time comes. It's a lot less frustrating if you prepare in advance.

Sounds like a grind to me.

I just gather as I go, scoop some stuff while my shields come back up that sort of thing. Whenever I need anything specific I just trade for it as my basic mats are always maxed out just by messing about.

It's the opposite of grinding: there's no urgent need to get that one thing you're low on. It's just a side job.

I have been having the same experience but to get around it I collect every other G5 manufactured material I can find and when I top them out I trade across for Pharmaceutical Isolators, even it the exchange rate is horrendous. Seems like FDev have pretty much turned Pharmaceutical Isolators off. o7

I picked up 9 PI's last night from Deadly Anaconda's that were stupid enough to be in the same Haz Res as me so they are still rare, but findable in-game...
Time to do some more Data harvesting though :)

Yes, I just got 6 from a Type 10. I've found them at a few HGEs during the year but they are much more rare now.

That's where I fall apart. I just don't get enough Encoded materials in the normal course of events. I don't like the Planetary Scan missions, for example - a lot of fuss for very little return. But all those Distribution Centres after The Scourge were a gift to any CMDR who was in the bubble at the time!

I 'found' a list of bodies with observatories to scan on the forum early this year, printed it off and go on a jaunt every few months, not all high grade data but tradable... A couple of sessions doing the same circuit on each body isn't too bad, but not high on my list of favourite things :)
Naturally, every ship in view gets a cursory scan too, some of those tasty pirates give 2 different types...

Everyone gets frustrated at one time or another and at one thing or another. And it can easily make us silly and irrational, as it did me, I would never fault another human being for that...first because it never helps, and second because it’s hypocritical.

And I agree that fdev, by and large, is fantastic...but imho, the amount of effort and resources they threw at CP is tragic and it frustrates me, immensely.

Why top off? Because I can and because that’s what I felt like doing.

If it makes you have melt downs it might not be the best approach.
