Engineers G5 Sensor - Long Range vs Light Weight Question

So generally for most my ships, I'm now using the light weight. I assume the long range detects USS's a lot further away correct? Right now I have the G5 Long range one on my all purpose ASPx. This is the ship I use to get all my engineering mats, USS, Data scans, Wake scans, and surface collections. As well I use it to go to my other ships or to locations to transfer my ships too, etc.

So now I'm just wondering if the long range is really worth it or it's better to get a bit more jump range using the light weight for my purpose? Trying out the long range with at 70% increase and not sure if I'm getting more USS's found or if it's just luck and the system I'm in.

What are people experiencing (or experienced in Beta). Are long range sensors worth it over light weight at all?

So it's only good for scanning when out of SC? So what would a good application for having then be? Just for longer range scans and better accuracy with gimballed weapons?

long range is nice for bounty hunting. You can see contacts that are farther away from you.

Thanks, I guess I had misunderstood the sensors after so long without thinking about it. Yeah I just was reading up on that. I guess I could do it on my Fer De Lance which is a bounty hunting ship then, but not sure I want to sacrifice the already low FSD range or not...

I did 5 Grade Light Weight Sensors on my Anaconda. Gained +5 ly jump! From 55 to 60,22. I prefer Light Weight.

Light weight Sensors make a lot of sense (?) on the "Big" ships, much less so on smaller. Long range mod might be needed with Long Range mod on weapons, this based loosely on my experiences, feel free to correct.
I have presumed that "Sensors" = internal thing.

Cheers Cmdr's
