Galapagos Tortoise Swimming

totally possible in terms of the hippo but you’d lose out on all the turtle animations. probably better to use the tortoise and for the time being at least, they can wade in shallow water and it’ll look pretty good for some large scale lakes and what not.
Can you change surface and underwater time ratios? Then it is best to make it like 99% to 1% for the snapping turtles. But even then they will not spend most of the time on the bottom which will look weird. They will always float in midwater...

Are you sure you want to use the deep swimming system for the snapper? It would look really weird floating on the surface all the time even with 4 metre or more water. Perhaps the hippo navigation is better? If that is even possible to mod.
This is why I think the alligator snapper is best off as an exhibit animal, because the current deep diving system would not be suitable for one.

This would be a great feature ....Turtles are so beautiful. Especially while swimming, even if the water depth requirement becomes the feature or something

Yes! This is something I've been so confused about being removed, the animations are there and they are commonly given pools within captivity to take leisurely swims even! Just unlock them again please Frontier?

Edit: I wanted to add that Aldabra has the same swimming animations locked off but I don’t know if anyone ever saw it during Beta…

They're terrestrial animals which occasionally take dips in shallow water. They're too heavy to swim.
Did you even read any of the thread or look at the media on here?

Giant tortoises can't dive or sink, they just float and swim at the surface.

A lot of tortoises tend to need to soak from time to time like a lot of reptiles, especially when they start shedding because it makes the shed less likely to stick and creates less stress for the animal. Swimming is something they can do as well, most just prefer more land time to water time.

Why not just make it so they can use the mud wallow and the pool enrichment items? Giant tortoises in zoo's I've been to typically have both of those to cool down. I'm not opposed to them swimming at all since they do it in nature, though probably rarely but maybe that would be an easy compromise? Just my 2 cents.

I would absolutely love it if they would be usable. Way better than just having the Pool as Decoration in there

I think they should be able to do both. I guess the easier one would be just re-enabling the swimming animations since they already have them, but I would also very much like them to use these two enrichment items, even if it takes new animations.

There are many animals in the game with swimming animations that rarely swim in the wild, even less so compared to giant tortoises, so I believe this isn't a limitation. It seems to be a matter of can or cannot when it comes to swimming animations in the game.
