Newcomer / Intro Galaxy and System Map: How I'm looking forward to this!

But I'm going the follow the Training Video sequencing order......
Basic Flight (completed)
Basic Combat (completed ..... well the first bit .... 😉)
Docking (completed)
Starport Services (completed)
Trade
Travel (update: completed)
Galaxy and System Maps
& so on .....

So I will need to watch the videos and undertake my own training for Trade and Travel first.

I'll use this thread to ask all my questions regarding G & S mapping. (Will also link posts from my other threads regarding advice, issues, suggestions, etc, already received about G & S mapping. 👍)

It might be encompassed by the map training. Have you already seen the commodities market in station services? That's where buying and selling happens. The only other trade features I can think of are in the galaxy map.

Thanks. I've seen mention of the Comm' Market under Starport Services, so I'll take a second look. :)

I've had a look in game and there is a training video for trade, but there is no training simulation. From the description I think the video covers the galmap features I mentioned.

Those features were introduced while I was on a break and I don' t know how to use them either. I might watch that video.

If you go to: EDIT: Seriously, don't bother, these videos are from 2014, totally out-of-date.

"Starport Services" and "Galaxy and System Map" videos cover trading.

(They are not up-to-date, the yootoob version seem to think they were made in 2014 and the date on the maps in the video supports this.)

EDIT:

I just checked in-game and the tutorial videos they describe are not available via the links they have. The links just take you to the page I have linked above and there is no "Trade" nor is there some of the others. I think they have totally eff-ed this up.

I did have a look at the Galaxy Map Video. Wow! It's three dimensional ! 😲 I'm only used to working in 2 dimensions ! Ha ! Looks ok though. I'll need to give it go myself in SOLO Mode starting from Coelho Station. Being this is my first trip out using the map, can somebody suggest a useful place to visit. Thanks.

Do one of the missions from the Starport Services Mission Board - just a "Courier" one at first if you don't want to go through the cargo loading procedures yet.

Trade.

Agricultural (farms) grows things and produces from organics mainly. uses biowaste from everywhere. Trades to everywhere.
Refinery (quarries ish)- uses agricultural products like food and clothes, refines ores into mineral, uses technology and equipment. Trades mainly up to Industrial.
Industrial (factories) - uses ores to make machines and equipment mainly. Trades up and down.
High Tech (Computer factories) - use equipment and machines to make tech for all. Trades to all but tourist & industrial mainly.
Tourist - no production apart from by organic products of human tourists. Buys consumer stuff mainly.
Military - usual food needed but also some military fabrics at vast profits sometimes (10K plus per ton on right route). Produces amrs and weapons mainly, often illegal elsewhere.

Most of them do trade up and down and can sell to all or buy from all pretty much so dont panic just buy whats cheap and see what you can sell.

Market has a Compare button to left. Can set to 'Galactic Average' and see whats most profitable. If doing this buy a range as dont want to be stuck with one cargo full of one item you cant sell. can compare to other market but its not working properly. What you can do is type the name of the system in and choose the market from there or go to selected ones which takes ages going through all the FCs. Must have visited the system within 24hrs to have data available or can buy from GalMap directly for that system (if its not bugged, have only done that once to see how it worked long ago).

Buy low sell high or for a profit and buy something else. using Average and picking a range you wont go far wrong and soon learn which are easier to offload (Meds, consumer tech, food & drink, legal drugs). At an Agricultural if in doubt buy Tea, its always a failsafe profit. Be careful with Biowaste, nobody wants it but Agricultural.

Then theres system and faction states. Boom increases profit at both ends, lower buying price higher selling price while it lasts. The rest? Id rather explain the rules of Quidditch than begin to try and understand them but gl to you, trade is a lot of fun however you play it, back and forth between 2 systems or just pot luck and jump and make a profit, or trade as you go somewhere never flying empty on the way :)

I've successfully docked at the required destination for the courier run, but not been told the Data has been accepted or don't appear to have received my reward. Any reason why?

Haven't done the training missions in a yonk, but usually, after docking, you need to go to the target station's mission board. One of the factions (usually at the top of the list) will have an excalmation point besides their name - that means that you have unfinished business with them. Open their missions, and you'll see your unfinished missions at the top of the mission list. Select them and complete them - by handing over the data in your case, then possibly choose one of the mission rewards.

What Ashnak said. You have to knock on their door and hand over the goods, not just leave it in their neighbour's docking bay. ;)
Thanks boys. Not sure exactly how I handed over the goods but with your help it worked. Now 25 000 whatever richer. 👍

Well. I said it was more luck than good judgment that I was successful before. This time I can't delivery it. :(
It was here that I think I have to do something. Is that right ? Thanks.

And it worked. Thank you

That's the ticket. Now you are ready to make your fortune running missions.

I did a quick video showing how to do a delivery mission last year. You can have a look at that and see how to avoid the normal problem people have navigating the actual mission page - (starport initial menu is different but the rest is still the same).

Ha! Understood everything in the "Spoiler". Except got to work on lining up entry to mission target better.
Another thing.
Why would anyone choose to manually launch and dock when it can be done far safer in auto ?
