Galaxy centre fixed?

Personally, I suspect that the old RX 480 might be causing some obscure problems, especially since the video shows it happening planetside... but there's simply too little information to tell. Would need GPU load, disk load, and so on. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot to go on.
However, I think it's likely that the problem is on your end, not the game's. If this happened to many people, there would be many more reports and complaints.

The temps are ok, too? This CPU is quite a hot one...
CPU was about 51°C

My PC specs are well above minimum requirements. There were a lot of complaints last year when i first noticed it and started to follow it up. How many players are exploring at the galactic centre that fly around planets? i submitted a report but i know it will go ignored. Like any i made on Chapter 4 beta. One issue i raised was the long delay with geological sites showing. i saw a massive amount of votes going onto that one which they just fixed on the January patch - over a year later.

Bring above minimum requirements has nothing to do with whether or not your hardware may be having issues, being old hardware it may be having issues due to it's age and not it's capability. Certainly the CPU load dropping when you get these short freezes indicates that the CPU is probably waiting on the GPU to do its stuff.

Guilty as charged, I am always dropping in to check out bio and geo surface sites.

That has nothing to do with a bug, that's simply how the program is designed to work, the delay is still there if you want to wait for the sites to fully resolve in the FSS, that's a performance issue unrelated to any bugs. Players like Old_Duck still have to wait for 30-60 seconds for sites to fully resolve, mine resolve in around 7 seconds but then I have some serious hardware to throw at it. The current probability display is in my opinion just a work around for an issue that can't be resolved due to hardware performance limitations.

Quite a few, I'd say. At least varonica and I. ;) I've never seen such freezes but for sure the fps rate drops significantly regardless of your hardware when you fly close to a planet. So it's the best place to reveal potential hardware issues.

Have you tried purging and reinstalling the game? Unless your internet connection is very slow, I'd recommend that. As I previously wrote, it helped me twice when I got some hard to explain graphics issues. Just remember to back up your controller and HUD controls settings. :)

But here is the thing, i have no issues flying around planet surfaces anywhere else i have been in the galaxy. i have no issues back in the bubble flying around a large starport with all the NPCs buzzing around. i have no issues at RES locations or CF zones. If my hardware wasn't up to it surely i would get jitters at these spots.
Ok, i'll acknowlegde that you two are not having any issues.
i used to have a piece of paper on the wall beside me with a circle drawn on it with the words "BANG HEAD HERE" in the middle. Maybe i won't notice the freeze as much if i start to use that again.

...Have you tried purging and reinstalling the game? ...
i might give that a go.

I have frame drops as well. This started after the 2nd January patch. I did not have that issue before. My computer is a i7-4770K, 16 GB Ram, 2 TB SSD, nVidia 1070 8GB.

Yesterday and today I recorded 2 1 hour videos. In each video there are 4 occurrences where that frame drop happens. Interesting is that they are at a similar time frame in each video, +/- 1 minute. For demonstration purposes I clued those 8 clips together into one video.

The frame drops don't only happen when I explore. I had the same issue last Tuesday in the HazRes in Centralis (Colonia Region) when I was bounty hunting. The videos were recorded at around -9532 / 10 /19753 i.e. about 1 Kly above Colonia.

You seem to be getting a lot of freezes. i know when the last patch first dropped everyone had this issue, but FDev insisted it was only a server load problem. i am still at the centre of the galaxy and will be there for a while before i move away to test that my problems are related to the centre radius of ±7000LY

Those freezes are from two 1 hour videos. I get 4 freezes every hour. Yesterday I checked the memory, system files, disk, log files and updated my nVidia driver. Today I still have those freezes. Next thing I'll try is to play in my 2nd/3rd account.

I need help... Support couldn't help. Near the centre as the star density max'es out ... the Galaxy map goes into uber slow mode with about 2 to 4 fps.. which pretty much locks everything up. I have top end rig (see below)... this ''go-slow/lock-up'' only happens with heavy star density... the only way I can get it to run OK is to have ALL Gal Map options (far right on menu) ... un-ticked. I have done tests to see which option un-ticked has the most effect in speeding things up... and that is ''System Names Shown'' ......Help. o7

What is your internet connection like? Is it slow, and/or perhaps dropping packets? The game queries stuff from the servers when you're on the galaxy map, so in an extreme case, that might be it.

My internet connection is not a problem. Normally 80 Mbps. And when that is down I connect with my cell, which is 1-2 Mbps. Still OK.

I checked my 2nd ED account, which is in another Windows 10 account, and I have the same issue.

Here is another short video from today. This time in the HAZRES in Centralis.

220+ Mbps Down / 30+ Mbps Up: (Cable Broadband), very stable with a ping of 2-5 usually, rarely if ever drops a packet as far as I can monitor. Entire game runs butter smooth at mega-max settings apart from the Galaxy Map at galactic centre.

Apology to Cmdr freddyhard: Sorry, I did not intend to hijack OP. Mea culpa mea maxima culpa

Has anyone else tested one of these new 20#0 ray-tracing cards? I'm sure someone has but it is the main thing that stands out to me as most likely different from anybody else.

RTX 2070, works fine here, I believe there are a few other players on the forum who also have similar.
