Galaxy Map: Add "close" button to system info pop-up

You know, that helpful info window that pops up whenever you mouse over a star in the galaxy map, and then absolutely will not go away again until you, out of frustration, highlight a star-ANY STAR-outside the thing, and hope the new pop-up doesn't also block the system you were actually interested in?

Yeah, how about a button to explicitly close that? :)

Yes! A pop up toggle on the tab where all the other icons are. I was just thinking this aslo as I was looking for a specific system and the pop ups covered a wide field of stars. So annoying.

I too think it would be nice to be able to close the damned window.

Maybe just a little nuisance, but frustrating in the long run.

I agree that something needs to be done about this popup, it is sometimes more in the way than beneficial. Here are three suggestions:
  • As already suggested in this thread, a close button.
  • And/or an option to pined the popup window anywhere.
  • Or remove the popup window completely and move the buttons to the left info tab instead, as it already contains the same information. See attached pictures for example.

Agreed... I really struggled with the map today... plotted a massive multi jump route... which seemed to disappear when I launched from the station. I am sure it comes with practice but it is a pain to see anything when you have a lot of jumps

Here's a better idea for this incredibly irritating problem. Just require us to actually click on the star system to see the pop up.

No, I just tested it on my system, it pops up when I mouse over a star and as soon as I move the cursor away from that star it vanishes, I don't have to highlight or select anything, it just vanishes when I move the mouse away from the star.

LOL???
The problem is that the box should not popup when you hover your mouse over a star.
The implementation is one of the worst UI aspects I have seen in a game for many years.
Any UI/UX developer knows this.
Absolutely horrible and annoying to use the galaxy map because of this single issue.
I have seen posts asking to remove this dating back to 2015 though so I expect that E:D are refusing to adhere to professional and correct UI/UX design not to mention ignoring their annoyed players. Sad day.
Consoles have no mouse, neither in VR... but yeah. Rage, doom and all that.

One of the other issues in adding a specific "close" button like a cross in the corner, it then predicates that the windows remain open until the button is clicked, you know UI design and all that, if you have a close button on a window then the window should remain open until it's clicked and not vanish at some random moment, thus then making it a problem for everyone who doesn't have that problem already.

I would say that, just because I sometimes have issues when clicking off that it goes flying away to a star thousands of Ly away...

If you move the mouse of the controller so the cursor is over a blank piece of space and leave it for 2 seconds, then the popup also disappears

Any UI/UX developer know you shouldn't have a tooltip when you hover over something..?
Wat?
