Newcomer / Intro Galaxy Map not showing/allowing you to click on systems

I find quite often that when I take a mission or just simply try plotting a course from A to B the Galaxy Map will not show me all the systems. For example - take a mission, go to your left screen and view mission and from there it says go to galaxy map. When it opens, it will show the little flag where to go but often the dot for the system to click on to plot course and/or open the system to view the planets is not there and no little menu thing appears...NOTHING AT ALL. NO DOT/SYSTEM to click on at all. Same occurs at times when plotting a course and you wish to check out a system, there is nothing there.

It occurs with systems that I have been to many times as well as ones I have only travelled through and ones I have never been to. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason why it happens at times and not other times.

The only way I can make it work is to go to the galaxy map and carefully type in the search feature the systems name.

- The dot representing the system still does not show but when you put your mouse cursor there it brings up the little menu allowing to click the flag, or plot course or open system, etc.
- Even typing the name and getting the little menu is not fool proof, for example sometimes when you open the system of the place you are going to it instead opens the system map of the place you are, even though you are clicking on the little menu (after doing a search) of a system hundreds of light years away.

It is very frustrating and has been occurring for a couple months.

I have a fairly new system with lots of memory, speed, RAM, video, etc., etc.
I have never used mods
The system map used to work much better.

Try checking your map filters. Maybe you un-ticked something important and if a system is filtered out, although you can see a mission icon over it, you can't click on it.

Second thing that comes to mind - check whether you are on the right plane (the "height") If you have the grid turned off, turn it on (in the right-most tab) and make sure that the grid is at the same level or very close to your system. Only systems up to a certain distance above and below the grid are clickable.

I get this a lot and have done since 2016 but it is because I am running the map with either the filter for scoopable stars or the one for stars I haven't visited, I just reset that one to show visited and unvisited and everything appears.

But apart from more filter choices this aspect of the Galaxy map hasn't changed.

The System map has nothing to do with it and still works fine.

The population filter is the one I always forget about

In 3.0 it also seems you have to zoom in closer to get systems to appear.
Galaxy map changes subtly and annoyingly every release, but doesn't normally take long to get the hang of

I think you have to change height of the plane you're at. You cant select system that is too high or too low from your point of view, you have to change plane height and then try to zoom in/out, then dot will appear.

I have this problem all the time and im on xbox 1 s. Ive tried all solutions but the dots tend to flick on then off again before i can select it. Its become a nightmare as iv3 gotten to the point where im having to select systems through the list but even then i waste a lot of fuel trying to get to scoopable stars. Ive even lost ships when ive run out of fuel and have to self destruct as im unable to go any. I used to love this game but its become a real spoiler, to the point where i dont play it as much anymore. They really need to do a patch so the dots are always visible.

2 year necro - not even a smudge in the necro record book. ;)

OK to the point - don't know about xbox but - if you go to the Galaxy map tabs in the top left - select the 4th one and choose the Map option - see what you have selected in the drop-down options - whichever you have them make sure all the boxes are ticked - does that sort your issue?

If you are looking to plot courses using only scoopable stars then you just have the OBAFGKM types selected plus the apply selection to route box. However that stops the other types being shown.

One last thing - the gal map only shows a certain number of stars - don't know the number on xbox - so only a sphere around your focus will be shown.

This is a bug that was in the game before and was fixed later. Now it seems to be back. Same happened for me yesterday.

I have just been experiencing this. Have to alt tab twice to get the cursor back. My issue is that i have just bought a Razer wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard. So basically the keyboard and mouse conserve power. While using mouse on the maps the backlight keyboard lowers power and both drop the mouse from the window. Unlike every other app on my PC the pointer does not activate back in the ED maps. Back on my Wired keayboard and mouse and there is no issue.
