Galaxy map routing too slow? Elite Copilot has quick routing and voice navigation!

Note2: Setting sound in system to Anna no effect... changing ID back to 0 got the system to start... So......

Help? I don't WANNA use Anna....

As responded via PM, could you please post the debugging output of the 0.29-debug version from dropbox? That might provide a hint (to others as well who might run into it if I can't fix it on my end). Thanks!

I just bought you a coffee, every penny helps :D

It does! Little tokens of appreciation keep the motivation going! :)

Getting it now Mr. Night Owl who doesn't sleep :)

For those wondering about F20, here is the secret. You have 12 function keys right? So for the keys above 12 just do this - subtract 12 from the function number and use <shift>- that key. For example, let's say you are instructed to use F21, then subtract 12 frrom 21 = 9 and use <shift>-F9.

And for those who say - What shortcuts are you talking about?? You gotta learn to read the documentation, man! Look in the file HOW-TO-USE.txt which comes in the zip file.

As for the routing, it is too unreliable for me. Even though I love all the nice little features around the concept of a co-pilot and what it can do for you, without a perfected routing system it is all just smoke and no fire, bark and no bite, and so on - it is the actual routing itself which is the important part - all the rest is just nice-to-have window dressing really.

Just a note for VoiceAttack that there is a keyboard under the 'select key' window that you can choose F20 - F22 key

I have tried using both the F20 and Shift-F8 (and the other 2) using VoiceAttack and neither generates as audio response. I should be able to generate a response when NOT in game as long as CoPilot has my last ingame settings. yes/no?

Suggestion: Specify in the How-to-use if the CoPilot should be started before or after Elite?

That's weird that you can't get VA to run with it. I'm sure it's worked for others. You should anyway always be able to change the F-keys used in the .ini file.

Copilot runs completely independent from Elite, so you can start it before, during or even after ;).

As for your original error report: Thank you for posting the debug log. Unfortunately, that shows that everything is starting fine and no errors are reported. I would need to write a new debug version with more output to figure out why it's crashing for you, which I currently don't see myself having the time for, sorry!

Version 0.40 is out and features an in-game overlay:

Get it at: http://goo.gl/mv4Jo8

Please read the change notes for all the new features:

V 0.40

- Elite Copilot now has a fully functioning in-game overlay that will display your next planned jump!
You can move the overlay by clicking on the small button to the left of the text. Click it again when done.
The position will not be saved, this might come in a future release. If you close the overlay, you'll have to restart E:C to get it back.
The overlay won't work with E:D in fullscreen, switch to borderless mode for it to work.
The overlay comes with customizable design, see below

- you can use a more recent (but also potentially error-containing) version of the star database by downloading tgcsystems.json and having the following setting in the .ini configuration:

Systems_data_filename=tgcsystems.json
Route_caching=false

- There is now a built-in webserver so you can open http://<your-local-ip>:8080 on your smartphone to get the overlay info outside of your screen.

You'll see a message about your (probable) local IP address in the lower messages window if you want to use this

The Windows firewall pop-up is because of this function. You can deny it if you have security concerns, but of course then this function won't work.

I won't be able to support you with getting this to work, but the community probably can as some have already used it.

- The main window and the overlay are user-customizable in terms of design.

There is a style-examples zipfile in the main archive, unzip it to E:C's directory and refer to
http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/stylesheet-examples.html for the formatting syntax. I can not provide support for how to do re-skinning, but I'm sure members of the facebook community will be able help you a bit, as some have already reskinned things for the beta release.

- Main window design overhaul, changes in donation after several users' suggestions

Version 0.40 is out and features an in-game overlay:...

Closed old install, started new... 4 show up in my Task Manager
2 are 108k
1 is 868k

But nothing at all starts.

Technically this should be a clean install.
Note that trying to close the un-running versions by 'End Process' the latger one and 1 of the smaller close... the other 2 dont. Only fix is a reset.

Sorry man, no idea what's happening on your system, and I haven't heard other users report the same.

Do you start E. Copilot as admin? I never do and you shouldn't have to - that could at least explain why you can't end the processes. Anyway, something is obviously getting the Copilot stuck for you, and I can't tell what it is from here.

I do suspect it might be the voice output. Now that there is the in-game overlay, would a switch to turn off speech completely potentially be useful to you, in other words would E.C still make sense to you without voice? I could do that.

I bought IVONA just for your addon.. :) I think that answers that.

So it's not running with Ivona now either? I think you're the only case I know of where that happens. The one thing I remember was that in your log there were a LOT of voices installed. I don't know why it would make a difference, but that's something that I haven't seen elsewhere.

The 2 processes per instance of E.C. are related to the way the python "script" is packaged into a windows executable and are normal. Them not terminating of course isn't.

One thing I could think of is trying to uninstall all your other, non-Ivona voices in Windows.

Edit: I'm compiling a new debug version with some more error handling related to speech. You'll find it in the dropbox in 10 minutes.

I'll check it out soon, need to reset again.
With the latest IVONA install it took over spot ID:0
I will delete some of those Microsoft voices as soon as I figure out how, I don't use those all.
But a crisp new install of your latest shouldn't have been a problem, that's what has me confused.

EDIT: Initial debug showed a scrip running, got to end, close the debug and reopened the debug new and froze...
Thinking you may need to send debug data to a log file, because I didn't get a chance to grab the screen of the one with data...

EDIT: Nvm the next paragraph, uploading a version that will write a debug log, elite-copilot-debug.txt. In case of a hard crash that might be lacking the last (and most important) messages though.

That's where running it from a dos box should come in.. ;) - Win+R -> cmd.exe -> cd /d <EliteCopilot's Folder> -> elite-copilot-v40-debug.exe

If it's Ivona you can't delete only 1 voice you have to uninstall it all. Sucks when you tried some then they expired and still appear in every dropdownbox in every app but you can't use them. Even uninstalling Ivona is extremely difficult.

One thing i would love to see is to be able to type in several systems i want to visit and then make the shortest route for it and also list the order so i can use that list in other sites/programs.

Dito, that's the thing most of us traders are looking for. A Kingdom for the one who can make that happen!

Other way around, I just want to get rid of the 5 unused Windows voices because I now USE Ivona

Do you happen to have a kingdom on your hands? Because for *that* reward I might just make it happen ;)

Work on your coding magic to make that happen good sir and i will work on my political intrigue influence to get you a shiny new kingdom ;).
