Galaxy map still inconsistent with actual system state

Not so much a bug report, because this is old and well-known. For example, I have a system nearby for which the galaxy map still claims it were in civil war, when actually it is in civil unrest state.

Since 2018 is the year of core gameplay improvements, I hope the galaxy map will be improved to actually reflect the current state of things at all times.

Working as intended.

What? You don't believe me?

States are still technically active during their cooldown period. That's the point between where the tick says "Alright guys. State is over." and a day later when everybody has put their warships in drydock and everyone gets on with their lives.

The galaxy map will continue to report a day behind because technically the state is still active and is winding down.

It's also the state of the controlling faction. It's not going to report if two minor factions within the system are at war ether. So you could be missing out on two minor states fighting while the controlling faction is just enjoying life.

You want the most accurate report without having to visit a system? Check the system map and look through the faction states. It's far more accurate.

That said if you're chasing War States, expect it to have gone on awhile so it could very well be past it's 4th day where even the slightest player action will knock it out of alignment and declare a victor.

No this is not a bug ether. NPC actions will try to equalize the states if no players are in a system. When they do they can trigger wars that will last a long time. However the very action of a player arriving in a system that hasn't seen players in weeks is enough to tilt influence in any direction which will end the state.

I don't advise chasing states. Unless the system is a Player Hub or host to an active PMF. Your actions will affect influence and likely knock things back into peaceful status very quickly.

That's what I did. Yesterday I was there and two factions were in civil war, the others in no state. Today when I checked, the same two factions were no longer in a civil war, and instead two other factions in civil unrest. While the galaxy map reported the system still in the civil war state.

I don't buy "working as intended". When I open the galaxy map, filter by state, and filter by civil war, and it marks the system, I gorram well expect to actually find a civil war there and some CZ to shoot stuff.

Again. The Galaxy Map does not report on the state of the system as a whole.

Only the state of the Controlling faction.

I'll do some tests with a state that is reporting pending Civil War but pretty sure it will report recovering states.

It did not correctly report that, either. It claimed the system was under civil war when none of the factions, including the controlling one, was in that state.

Does the Controlling System have "Civil War" as it's Recovering State?
