I've been setting up elite in VR for the past few days when I've had time nearly sorted.. But when I open the galaxy map I can move the objective cursor no problem but when it comes to the menu box on the left of the screen or the icons under the planet I've picked I can't use or operate them.. I'm using oculus with keyboard and mouse ... Any help much appreciated... It's hindering my game ..

I'm not clear on where you're having trouble. Do you have keys bound for everything, i.e. was the gal map working properly without VR? KB+M is going to be tough in VR, so are you pretty comfortable with it already? Even if you could just get a cheap xbox controller to use for gal/sys map you might be better off.

I had this issue too in the first few days setting up.
When you are in the cockpit of your ship and looking at say, the targetting panel on your left you should have two keys mapped to move you left and right on the screen your looking at and two keys to TAB you left and right through the tabs at the top (like contacts).
When in the galmap, to get to the menus on your left you move left once (not tab left). Then once the menu is active tabbingnleft and right moves you through the tabs as usual. Moving right will move you right on the screen but if you move right ince more you will be back in the galmap context sensitivr menu (with select, plan route etc)

After loads of messing about with the keys set up and option i got the cursor to work in the Galaxy map and had other issues which i sorted lol ...
But the problem im having now is i set the thrust vertically on the W and S keys but when i lower the landing gear the W and S keys suddenly start working the thrust forwards and backwards .. and then when i raise the landing gear the vertical thrust up and down starts working again... it doing my head in .. anybody know how sort it ???

Not sure about this, but in the control bindings, there's a section for alternative flight controls (or something like that, sorry, not in game). Essentially, it allows you to set different control mappings for when you are landing the ship, and since you are having issues when your landing gear is down, perhaps it's that?

I can now play the game.. Just need to fine tune stuff and get use to voice attack
