Galaxy Plotting Fail PS4 - Even under 1000LY

Been playing since PS4 release. On my first 44,000LY journey. Plotting in the galaxy has stopped working even under 1,000LY. I am about 20,000LY into my journey (so I have done something right until now). It seems I can only get around 50-100LY jumps when plotting routs now. Anything further than that fails for some reason. Please look below for things I have done so far to double check my settings. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Things tried:
1. Logging out for several hours
2. Ensured first 7 stars are set in filters for scooping fuel
3. Toggled economy jumps on/off to fast jumps.
4. Went up then down to get off the same plan I was traveling for some time.

The most common cause is a sparse area where the jump to the next system is bigger than the range of your ship full of fuel.

If you're in a sparse area, you can try selecting your next jump manually instead of using the plotter. Sparse areas are still tough on the plotter, as dense areas used to be.

EDIT: also check that it's not a full tank that prevents you from reaching a star that's very close to your max jump range.

EDIT 2: You may be near a locked sector.

As the others said, I suspect you've hit a sparse area. However, without knowing where exactly you are we can't help you. I know how confusing the galaxy map is when you're a new player -- been there and done that. So can you give us a rough idea where you are? A system name will be of help so we can look it up in the galaxy map and offer you suggestions.

The 20K route plotter is going to fail in a similar manner in sparse areas. You can either go through a more dense area around the sparse area or navigate using jumponium.

Also, it's not PS4 specific. The galaxy map works the same for all platforms.

First things first though. Please tell us where you are so we can offer you suggestions.

20kly in? Close to the center makes it hard to plot. There's a thread somewhere, too lazy to search it on my phone.

I am not lost any longer! YAY!
Thought my posts were coming through on my phone but I guess not. I was able to get past the area. It seems that waiting until I had one jump left to plot my next 1,000LY kinda screwed me. By chance I had plotted to a sparse area of the map. I navigated 500LY higher above me were it looked more dense. Then continued back on my Linear path. Strange to think that the stars spread out so far apart like that and I would find it.

I am past that area about 3,000LY now. I have started re-plotting about every 500LY's traveled to ensure I don't hit a dead end again. Thanks for your responses and help. I was very frustrated and didn't know what to do for a couple of hours.

I've noticed the route plotter failing if you're near a permit-locked area and you're trying to plot a route to the other side. I got caught in the Orion/COL70 honeypot (a small bubble of legal space inside a much larger bubble of permit-locked sectors) and had to plot 50-100 LY links to escape.

I've also seen other threads from PS4 users complaining about the route plotter; there might be a glitch on the PS4.
