GALNET - 01 SEP 3308 - EMPIRE SHIFTS ANTI-XENO STRATEGY

While its hardpoint convergence leaves everything to be desired and its hitbox is certainly large, the Clipper is a very tanky ship with a respectable damage output. With the right loadout and a bit of elbow grease it can be a capable combat vessel, even in AX CZs.

...Just don't bring it to a PvP fight and expect to win :p

I'll concede it's a really nice deep core miner. 😂

The slaver empire can die in a fire. I kinda doubt they would be able to raise a sizeable force - slave soldiers just aren't good enough and why would empire citizens die for greedy feudal overlords?
I mean, every single conflict in human history is fought by poor peasants on behalf of their overlords.
Why they do this is a good question, but they do it.

Looks like Hadrian has managed to secure a lot of political clout, and managed to kept his base interested in his platform - and believing in him.
No doubt in part due to the way the Nova Navy, and other supporters, put effort into the various CG moments to ensure Hadrian would not lose clout.

It'll be interesting to see which parties will get upset about missing out on the gravy train when Arissa reallocates funds to Imperial-only companies.

ALD pulled Impexit :D

IMO, not the wisest decision right now with that orange green thing approaching.

We will see. 🤷‍♂️

Thargoids succeed in the good ol' "Divide and Conquer" technique without even trying.

Given the Imps are basically the British Empire IN SPAAAAACE you'd think they'd recognise the tactic tbh, but then they've never been very bright.

The Empire Slinks Back 🤔

Looks like they're taking a bask seat in intersuperpower cooperation.
They're taking a backseat in "getting munched by ThargStar".

My suggestion for a device to protect the Empire against this new alien menace is a giant sign pointed at Alliance space that says:
"They did it"

Bright enough to have had an Empire 😉

Do thargoids eat slaves or is it only occupied escape pods?
If they like slaves then I'm happy to join the empire to make it a lot easier to gather their food.

Now we're talking! Peace is boring. Of course I'm specifically talking in context of a video game.

Hopefully this will lead to more superpower skirmishes in the future. Not everyone enjoys AX combat, and Elite has been sorely lacking in meaningful human-v-human combat-focused CGs. As for RL comparisons, one might argue that climate change is an existential threat (our version of Thargoids) that should bring us all together, and yet "wars and rumors of wars" abound on our planet. The idea that the Thargoids would cause all the superpowers to hold hands and sing songs and work together has always felt a bit too optimistic for a dystopian game like Elite.
