Pilots’ Federation ALERT
It has been confirmed that the mysterious anomalies known as rogue signal sources are all converging on the core systems.
Professor Yaro Kenyatta , a noted academic in astronomy-related fields, has been collaborating with Professor Ishmael Palin and Ram Tah on analysing the unexplained objects. He published a summary of their work in the scientific journal The Empirical:

“The first of these distant objects was detected on the 31st of August 3308, but several more have since been identified. It was quickly apparent that they were travelling through interstellar space at faster-than-light speed. Full spectrum system (FSS) scanners were upgraded to allow more pilots to detect their electromagnetic emissions.”

“Data on these phenomena has been analysed by many respected organisations such as Canonn Interstellar Research Group, Orion University and Universal Cartographics. Their consensus is that the rogue signal sources are all approaching the core systems, home to the vast majority of the human population.”

“As yet, we cannot determine when and where they will arrive with complete certainty. But it now seems unlikely that these are naturally occurring stellar bodies. It follows that eight distinct anomalies converging upon our small region of the galaxy cannot be pure chance. Human space is their intended destination.”

“What will happen when they arrive? Judging by their astonishing energy output, they may be devastating to inhabited systems. Each signal could be an energy projectile or a navigation beacon for some unknown force. More fanciful suggestions include celestial beings beyond our comprehension, or interstellar technology we have never witnessed. Our intention is to narrow down the more probable options soon.”

“Alternatively, if these are hyperspace distortions caused by non-human vessels, it’s possible they may decelerate as they draw near. But one conclusion can be made: whatever they are, they must know we are here.”

Update was deployed with absolutely no instructions as to how to use it or what to expect from the upgrade. The FSS doesn't even show the thing up as a white of any kind on the screen just a grumbling sound.

Everyone who's been following the thread on this thing knew that about a week ago and a lot of us guessed it several weeks earlier.

Thank you, Captain Obvious. :)

An energy projectile that changes course and speeds up or slows down whenever?

Yeah interstellar technology we have never witnessed? I could have told you that the first day they were discovered.

Again, thank you for that amazing scientific insight Captain Obvious!!

Heads up! Something bright, spiral and green-blue mix is incoming! Target the heat rela.....

Wait a second, do these incoming things have heat relays?

So a bit of guesswork from a week ago is worth as much as a fully functional 3D map and mathematical analysis of the trajectories undertaken by people shortly after the anomaly was discovered, or what's the message here?

Energy Heat Relays ;)
We will need another boring CG event for mining fragments and they will help to get weapons that can shoot the relays.

Interesting that the article doesn't mention Thargoids at all, even though we know there's a Thargoid connection (hostile Thargoid hyperdictions near them). Attempting to reduce panic?

The frustrating thing is that certainly several weeks ago it was obvious that they were all (at least, those detected at the time) heading for "the bubble".

Beyond what's in the Galnet article, all that extra data and analysis has amounted to "well, I can tell you more about what they're probably not doing" and exactly the "we cannot determine when and where they will arrive with complete certainty" from the article. Realistic for science, sure, but not compelling news...

Maybe that's the reason this article is quite a bit behind the observations and studies - marketing keep pushing back and saying "maybe a few more days extra data will find something worth mentioning?" until finally Prof Kenyatta snaps and points out that there'll be even less of interest in the press release if they keep sitting on it until after these things have shown up in the bubble itself.

Yeah interstellar technology we have never witnessed? I could have told you that the first day they were discovered.
With the superpowers' apparent overreaction to the Thargoid Roar, I'm expecting that there are people in the military hierarchy with access to INRA or equivalent records who are at least fairly sure about exactly what these things are.

Do you feel better now? ;)

Perhaps it's an update for players who aren't here on the forums?
Certainly - it's just surprisingly late even for that purpose.

The last mention of them (apart from Patreus giving them a nod in passing earlier this week) was over a month ago
At that point, only three were known ... and that article doesn't really add anything to
a week earlier for anyone wanting to go out and look for one ... and this article doesn't really include any information that couldn't have been in an article as "already widely-known" in early October.

Normally Galnet articles "revealing" things players have already discovered give a bit more information. I wouldn't expect Galnet to tell us anything we don't already know about them, but this isn't even telling us everything we do already know about them.

Looks like at least one thing has improved in the 34th century. 😅
