GALNET - 25 AUG 3308 - REPORT FROM HIP 22460: ‘SALVATION IS DEAD

I'm actually happy that we don't. The ways this could be depicted ingame would all be unfulfilling, since it would just be shooting down a ship or NPC.
Only if you're lucky. Last time I remember them trying to involve us in a manhunt story, I never even caught a glimpse of the target ship.

The report only states that they VISUALLY identified him.

But, did they collect any DNA from his body?

A guy with his wealth and resources could have easily arranged to have a body double, a few surgical alterations and the body double would be an near identical twin...

It wasn't Salvation in that chair they found, but his hired body double... Salvation is still sitting on his FC bridge somewhere else.

Ok, there's some more tin foil hattery for the tin foil hatters to jump on and get excited over.... though personally, I don't actually believe this! LOL

I like to imagine that he turned off his life support just as he saw the Proteus wave fire, and died before the response came, happy and secure in his victory.

A guy like that had to have known he didn't have much time left, and someone who names themselves salvation would have loved the idea of the entire galaxy morning his death just at the point of his greatest victory.

Personally ... bravo to Frontier for clarifying this. I think they intended it to be clear he was dead from the cinematic but once again failed to take into account a) the communities ability to spot things they didn't intend (in this case the name of the CM's fleet carrier "Nemesis" that was used to film those shots)
I thought Zac confirmed they don't have a fleet carrier called "Nemesis". And that he doesn't have a FC at all.

The obligatory:

So what’s all this about the Witch’s Brow in the Raxxla thing, now that this wraps up the Azimuth and Proteus situation?

Is the Raxxla hunt moving closer toward Sag A* and the Veil nebula?

Someone else just pointed that out to me too. Huh ... I still reckon' it was an accident (not Zac but someone else's FC?) but I guess I'm lacking definitive proof (other than this Galnet article backing up the idea).

There are 8 fleet carriers out there with the name Nemesis.

The truth is they don't have a proper bridge of a mega ship (look at the windows for a start) so they had to go with something. I think I can live with it.

It's interesting to think that if we supported Aegis instead of Salvation back then, things could have turned out a bit differently.
Maybe we would be seeing an article now from Galnet about Aegis ships and staff being destroyed and killed in HIP after their use of a superweapon instead.

Only his body is dead.

He's gone and done a full refresh and restore and is now a Windows 3300 update.

...in 3308. Sigh. Outdated software. Some things never change 🙄

Oh come on! THAT's never happened in this game. Right, Empress? 🤖

I feel like an Aegis arc would have just been boring status quo and we wouldn't have modded guardian weapons.

The exact wording. "[But even before we got a positive ID scan] I recognized Dr Wycherley immediately" Brackets added for emphasis. Even before we got a positive ID scan, he was visually identified, [after that we got a positive ID scan]. Brackets added to indicate the unspoken second half of the "before/after" context.

Surely a second attempt to recover the body would be worth it. Let CMDRs give it a shot.

That guy has been hardly human anymore at the end, who says a little vacuum is a problem. "Medical system dormant" - doesn't sound that definitive either.

But that's enough tinfoil for today.

Yeah, he might have been old enough to have Ammonia for blood.. or formaldehyde and survive in the frozen space.

Well... Would all those implants and external life support boxes be expected to be more resilient against the EMP than all the other critical systems that got shut down? :7
