GALNET - 29 JUL 3308 - SUPERWEAPON CONSTRUCTION COMPLETED

Would anything really change as there has been no fundamental changes that would make any kind of difference?
All it's likely to do is annoy lomg term, heavily time invested players to the point where they may quit the game.
It won't revitalize gameplay, only doom ppl to repeat it.
I have no idea how bold FDev are, I'd imagine that the bubble won't burn, and all the PMFs and players will keep what they have, so just normal instead of epic amounts of salt.

things boring is that there are so many stations that nobody needs to really care about bgs states... Etc
reducing the number will change that. it will make flipping systems much more effective and important to care about, it will make players have to consider bgs things and stations would have effectively unique purpose in the game's economy and gameplay.

also, if possible, switching to crafting/finding/fixing things we previously would just buy would eliminate the problem of the broken credit based economy.

edit: you'll get competition between players over bgs activities instead of there being so many people can totally ignore the activity of other players. etc
None of this willl change until they change the core fundamentals. If you break things before you have a new system, it is doomed to fail..
Reducing the number of viable systems will only allow the bigger factions to gain more power, at the expense of the l'il ppl.

So, I guess, the weapon discharges, three quarters of the human population dies, all but 15 orbital stations recover, COL 70 Sector become unlocked but hoards of Thargoids head our way, Salvation reveals himself to be the Guardian AI, game ends, credits roll and we get a teaser at the end of the credits for ELITE: RECOVERY (Picking up the Pieces and Surviving), coming out in January of 2023 (or March 2023...or June 2023...)

i say let the Thargoids wipe out player factions entirely, boil the game down to powerplays between the Big 4). When you sign up for Federation, make you actually join the Federation and fight for its interests. make it matter. I'd have made you choose a faction when you started your captain, and made you play that faction forever. then you rank up in that faction, getting better uniforms, better ships, ability to call in backup. No switching. You'd care about the Empire, or the Federation, and their reach and influence, and defend their systems. No jumping about farming ships and toys. Fdev missed something by not doing that, but being random "independent" pilots we have no direction, no reason to do anything other than getting shinier ships. Whole bubble burn? not my circus, not my monkeys. I'll buy my Conda from Colonia

Maybe, maybe not. One thing i learnt by being over-enthusiastic about such things is it may not be as you assume.
Best just to wait, throw ideas in when any storyline is in its infancy.
Let your imagination do the work.
It will be what it will be and the wrong theories will be quickly forgotten while ppl will say "called it"..
Ultimately, you would not have come to that conclusion if you did not listen to other ppls theories.
It is what it is... may not go that way.

Interesting take.

Mine is closer to : If the super powers were not so greedy, and full of secrets and lies, we would not even be in this mess.
Choosing Anarchy is a point a statement, that the current leaders of legitimate governments are so corrupt and un-caring that it is in each cmdrs best interest to use them and ignore them.
Fighting aliens that not just us but our loving leaders have been torturing and stealing from and killing and keeping it all as quiet as they can, in my view is not my fight.
The MA farming, the theft of tech and the way it was gained. Let them burn, they asked for it.

And if the AI or Thargoid mothership/s show up, those who deserve it will get it.
I hope they both show up and swallow sol as an appetizer.

I fight as an anarchist, simply to stay alive and keep things going.
To run or to fight seems pointless. Both possible scenarios involve highly intelligent beings, pretty sure they really know the truth far better than we do.
Damage is expected, and hopefully solves many problems with the current foolish perpetually arguing Super Powers.

This for me was easy to figure out when I had to go get my MA for my first Engineered fsd.
The symbol was very clear on the Barnacles and Obvious to any space traveler.
So then a little research.
Then a lot of disgust for humans.
Exploiting is normal, stupidly exploiting is just that. To do what has been done, to an enemy that you have never even seen in their natural habitat.
Meaning zero idea how many, how big, how many kinds, older than any thing ever discovered....sounds intelligent. typical temporary govt decisions to steal and lie. let the next or the next generation worry about it.

Seeing for the first time one of the Thargoid crashed ships, made me wish that anthill had not been touched.
Cicada like, seems a bad idea to pixx them off. Big, so big, flying a conda inside a thargoid ship.
Tech that disables our tech, nice.
bring sticks.

The biggest stupidity is that we aren't really in competition... Thargoids being ammonia based would need a different environment which is completely incompatible with our own species.. Start a xenocide and war for some stupid meta alloys, that for all that we know could be thargoid eggs...

precisely.
All we have managed to do is show them we aren't the ants at the picnic, but the wasps in the garden.

My first thought were alien eggs too.
Having seen Thargoids interacting changed that.
I always knew they were seriously impressive biotech of some sort.
Still have no real idea if a thargoid is feeding the barnacle or feeding from it., either way we do know now that they have a need for the MA, if for nothing else other than the process of creating them.
Could still be eggs too.
Who knows how long it takes to produce 1 MA from scratch, as in plant the Barnacle and come back in 200 years.
So, not feeding barnacle from that, feeding from it.
If they have no need for the MA, but only the process which seems to store energy they feed on..

or all backwards and they are feeding it.
my question is, are they biotech factories or energy devices or both.

But point is, we were a minor pest, now we are a pain in the end and not smart enough to back off or stop poking the bear we do not know.
like ants trying to figure out sachrine.
or a 4 year old trying to figure out how electricity comes from a chunk of rock when you hit it
and can he take over the universe with his new found brilliance.

At least we get some good pew pew out of it! :)

And on second thought we aren't acting more intelligently with our own planet, so there is precedence for stupidity! :D
