GALNET Audio - Devs, Why are You Crippling this New Feature?

A Galnet archive that is ingame and not on the internet elsewhere would be awesome, also because that's what I would definitely use Galnet Audio for when on exploration. Compile a nice playlist of interesting stuff and go.

Would also help to distinct general information from news. Historical stuff and science articles never get old.

I wonder if the 'Codex' feature, when it arrives later this year, will be the new source for all the historical stuff..... and be voiced?

Galnet audio could use some additional tweaking or new options, like auto play new Galnet articles. Play station news/info after docking (with option to disable).

It would actually be useful if the voice-to-speech mechanism could be used as an audio archive of all the voiced content your CMDR has archived - The Zurara, the Guardian Codices etc. I like that idea. At present, all content expires after 30 days.

I agree OP, Galnet audio is a good new feature. Hopefully Frontier are being conservative with the current rather limited content and we get more to listen to in a future patch.

The thing is, they should already allow local news to play just as background noise. Why you can't I don't know, as Galnet needs more than 2 new stories a week to make a radio station actually entertaining. It is procedural, but its autogenerated and would need little input.

I'd like to see 'audio templates' like bounty boards- it reads the names of criminals and might end with 'these commanders are considered dangerous' etc.

Sort of like:

Local security have issued bounties on the following commanders............they are considered dangerous and should not be approached by traders or civilians.

They also need user submissions back, in local and GalNet to fill in the gaps. Yes it takes work but it really makes for a more immersive experience.

I agree with OP, the Lore articles should be archived somewhere on GalNet news so they can be played anytime.

Yep, after the main news stories of the day, playing local news once you've been in SC for a few seconds or so in a system would be grand.

I don't get why the archive can't go back to release. Because of the current system, there is nobody who remembers the whole deal with "empire day" around new years, and tons of tons of stories (such as the Kappa Fornacis conflict) that were really interesting are really difficult to get by.

That would be really cool! Assuming that there isn't an issue with the system (I'm not a coder) having access to all that information, the only other barrier would be someone having to go back and proof/modify those old articles so that they read correctly. So if they can do it, it might still take some time to get everything done. It would be a really nice feature though.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
They should use it to read aloud the forum threads. Imagine listening to an hysterical 44-page discussion on combat logging, griefing, money-making exploits, or the perceived lack content, etc, while flying through the endless void. Pure bliss :)

Oh man... that would be hilarious. :D I wonder how Galnet would pronounce 'git gud'? ;)

I do really enjoy voiced Galnet and agree there should be even more content.

The disruption of the feature by the COVAS is very annoying. I tried to use it, when jumping from A to B and everytime the COVAS speaks (fuelscooping, fuelscooping complete, FSD charging, 5..4...3..2... and so on) the alctual galnet articlei is been disrupted several times until it is finished.

Crikey, yes, back-ground lore related galnet articles ought to be available as a pretty permanent archive and even more important ongoing story events should be considered for inclusion. These latter articles should perhaps include a time stamp so you can get a feeling for the progression of events over time...

Otherwise I'm loving GalNet audio and I'm looking forward to more stories and seeing how the feature develops.

Hi everyone - and FD, if you're listening, for us explorers, listening to all that GALNET has and has had, while out in the black (is that possible in terms of lore, to receive transmissions outside the bubble?) would be a truly wonderful thing.
I haven't posted on these forums for a long long time - but having all of GALNET to listen to while exploring is motivation enough to get on the forum and ask.

Thanks for a great game.

I wish it would've been Galnet TV network instead of just audio. That would give us a distraction during those long mission hauls.

We need much, much more content to make it a worthwhile feature. Local news, player submitted news, even fluff- its got to go to 11.

True. Galnet Audio finally has me paying attention to Galnet, so it would be nice to hwve much more to listen to. Another possibility is to use the audio feature for tourist beacons as well.

Get voice attack with Ivona amy, cut and paste some silly forum argument into voice attack, then play it to your friends, honestly puts things into perspective. Mental is the only word to describe it.

@Op - Fully agreed, I really hope they can put some more effort into Galnet Audio, it is great, but could definitely do with more, So much lore and background stuff that could be added. Really enjoyed those original articles, am back to copying ED wiki articles into a Voice attack random playlist

Content was always the issue.

It's nice, the audio, better than I expected, and the French voice is quite pleasing. But the issue with Galnet has always been content. Removing player content made it even more barren. Now more people know, though, since they're trying out the new feature, and thus get to know what Galnet actually needs.

Content.

I just want a "PLAY NEW ONLY" option so when I turn on Galnet Audio, it only plays stories and news that I have not listened to previously.

Unfortunately, the system is updated so infrequently, that most of the time you wouldn't get any results to play, but I would prefer that over hearing the same stuff over and over again.
