Galnet audio no longer a feature in odyssey?

I guess you're the only one that was using them. :D

It would be a shame to lose it though. The only reason I don't listen to them very often is that I completely forget about Galnet!
yea, i didn't start using it until recently with all the events going on, it added a lot of immersion to hear what's going on in the galaxy like an actual news report on long trips, i could not be bothered to read them otherwise.

Playing on Horizons here, and I noticed the past 7 Galnet articles have no audio voice.
I hope it's just an oversight. I always play those articles when I hop on Elite, otherwise I wouldn't read them for myself either.

I reckon it's a cost cutting measure. Galnet is one of those things that while useful (especailly in light of the fact that player driven events are not really a thing, or even discouraged), isn't really all that popular - until it's no longer there. Presumably they paid a voice actor to do this, so removing this has decreased their costs there substantially.

It wasn't a very enjoyable feature for me, as the galnet audio would get interrupted by any other COVAS feedback. So in the end I'd have to sit and do nothing while it plays.

Review bombing = Bad media coverage = People got fired probably, or will soon.

Unless people go on Steam now and try to fix the Mostly Negative rating:

It isn’t ”review bombing” to leave a bad review to an inferior product.

I’m pretty sure “review bombing” is just management speak to justify poor feedback to investors. “We weren’t wrong, the product is great, the stupid customers are the ones who are wrong”

I also miss the Galnet audio. I only wish that what is currently there wasn’t constantly interrupted by the ship computer. Very jarring.

I always assumed it was computer-generated audio.

I'm missing that feature as well. I usually stack a couple of Galnet articles in the playlist when I'm out exploring a new system and have them run as "background noise" when I buzz around between planets.

Thats why I assumed it's a bug or just an overthought at the current chaos days at FD I can imagine. I just thought that the game generates the speak automatically by reading it without any further needed input when implementing the news.

I really like the Galnet audio feature. Exploring around Galactic central it adds immersion checking out the News from home. I use it a lot. I hope it’s not a feature they are going to drop.

Maybe the audio team are having a well deserved break after all their awesome hard work on Odyssey.
The orchestra stopped playing when engaging an enemy ship so maybe they're all off.

It could be, there are some text to voice solutions out there that are believable, but if so I really can't think of why audio has been omitted from the most recent Galnet pieces.
Weird. Ain't it Text-to-Speech so no work to do?
There's still work involved. Text-to-speech generally comes with language libraries, but you still have to define how certain words are pronounced, like system or character names, not to mention add mark-up to define voice emphases and the like.

Still, maybe it is simply a case of manpower.

Since odyssey released, no new articles on galnet have the audio option anymore, did i miss something?
Galnet Audio seems to work, just checked it on foot and in my ship. What's missing is the play button on the Galnet screen. I startet the audio with my key short cut, and there is a play button in the right ship panel. Suppose it's on their list of things to be fixed. Great feature, I use it regularly while in supercruise.

Sorry, didn't notice that's not the case for the latest articles.
