Galnet Audio: The most useless thing in the whole game?

Just one question - why? Seriously, why? IMO, this text-to-voice engine is the biggest waste of developer time. Do you really think someone would use it?

It is third party and seriously it is amazing balls. Imagine all texts, all missions, all NPC dialogs....read by voice synth.

I'll use it, too. Especially, as there are shortcuts for its control and it will be possible to use VA for turning it on and off.

By the way: Did they clean up the featured news in Galnet? Because listening to all the PP updates will be indeed tiresome (at least for me(!)). Pointless "noise" might indeed hold me back from using the feature, if it isn't possible to select news of interest. (I know it was shown that certain streams can be switched on and off manually. But will this also work in the automated playback?)

GalNet Audio looks awesome and I will be using it constantly! It increases immersion and keeps me informed of going’s on in game. I do hope FD ups their game a bit on the GalNet content to take full advantage of this new feature.

Is there an option to turn it off?
In fact, I don't just want to turn it off, can I have it uninstalled from my copy of the game?
IN FACT ... Can I have the mere existence of it erased from history?

(just kidding ... well, except for wanting the option to turn it off)

Reminded me of how the same thing made into EVE one day and how people moaned about it. And it vanished pretty quick after that.

But this isn't EVE. It will be around and I like it [big grin]

You have to turn it on to listen :D

It is not. What about the NPC voices when the text-to-speech will be good enough? Without the need to have a limited set of voiceovers for everything? ;)

Galnet audio is only as useless as Galnet itself. So yeah.

My hope is that Galnet audio is just a way overhyped feature which they are using to test the robustness of their text->voice tech, with the aim of introducing it for other areas of the game later on (hello voiced NPCs?)
