FD clearly wants to make Galnet News more useful. They wouldn't be putting effort into the text-to-speech feature if they didn't see a future in it. At the same time, player-submitted content must have been a problem, as it has been put on hold. I wonder if the effort of moderating the content and making sure it fits with the lore was too onerous?

That was the reason given, but there was no consistency before, and typically submissions were rejected without any explanation. "Friends" could always get articles through, though. It was excessively badly managed to begin with.
