TITLE: Basking for Refugees

DESCRIPTION:
An eccentric collection of well-connected Imperial commanders have descended upon the Kalana system, carrying medicines and evacuation shelters. The loosely organized “Cutter Club,” as they call themselves, have pledged to help meet the needs of the refugees from Mu Koji.

In addition, the Cutter Club has organized a fundraising event to provide additional support to other charitable efforts. The event, “Basking for Refugees,” will be streamed from Moore Prospect on 2 OCT 3302 at 22:00 GMT. The main event will feature daredevil SRV jumps over rows of Imperial Cutters. Viewers may take part in the event freely, and are encouraged to consider supporting a charity of their choice.

Commander PeachSlicesV summed up the intent of the event:

“War and other disasters create significant numbers of displaced, vulnerable and needy people. Whatever you can give for these charities can help their lives. Who knows, one day they might save yours.”

Death of Raan Corsen in Alioth system, Sirius Corp implicated

Description

Cmdr Moonweb of the Earth Defense Fleet has released the following statement as the MetaDrive Inc incident came to a sudden and unfortunate conclusion:

“Despite our pleas for Cmdr Raan Corsen to remain in our jurisdiction, he jumped into the Alioth system and we were forced to cease our attempts to protect him."

Corsen later reported thruster malfunctions and crashed into a planet in the Alioth system as observed by Cmdr Ashley Wilkinson - a Canonn representative working with the EDF.
The exact causes of the malfunctions which caused his death are unknown, but a disturbing transcript of the doomed Corsen’s final transmissions points a finger firmly at Sirius Corporation.

TITLE: Imperial Navy deploys special forces

DESCRIPTION:

The Imperial Citizen has uncovered what are believed to be Imperial Navy special forces deployments over recent days.

Elements of the shadowy 9th Legion are believed to have been ordered to both Achenar and to Colonia in response to recent events. An unnamed trader indicated that components of the Emperor’s Life Guards were seen leaving a forward operating base and heading towards Achenar.

Meanwhile The Imperial Expeditionary Force is believed to have sent combat ready ships to reinforce 9th Legion pilots already at Jaques Station.

When questioned by the Citizen about the deployments, Commander Nathan De Verne snapped “We do not comment on operational matters. Now get out of my way”.

SUGGESTED SYSTEMS - Malaikudi, Kamadhenu, Achenar, Colonia

Title: Union challenges redirection policy

Description:

An independent pilot is to be heard at the central arbitration court challenging a charge of piracy. CMDR [Anonymous] is being represented by Ms Sharon Hatton of the union Pilots (Independent Services Sector) Esurance Directorate.

Ms Hatton had this to say to reporters: “My client took up a contract had a contract to deliver 5 tons of Fruit 20 light years for a reasonable fee. On arrival at the system in question she was asked not only to divert to another star system 70 light years away, for a paltry additional sum of 6,000 cr, but to add insult to injury, to deliver them to Hutton Orbital.

“My client did the only sensible thing for a pilot coming to the end of his or her statutory permitted flight time, she dumped the cargo and gave the customer the bird, and for that she’s fined for piracy and is being chased by bounty hunters. It’s time to call time on practices like this.”

Title: Beam laser sales downtrending

Description:

Ever since the famous engineers opened their workshops for pilots from all around the galaxy, weapon manufacturers have seen a shift in sales. Since May, multicannons have been best-sellers while other weapons have seen their sales reduced by half. Beam laser manufacturers reported a loss of 20 billion credits this September, and expect to lose another 25 billions if the market trend doesn't change. The company's CEO blames this on the lack of an engineer specialized in beams.

"We understand that beams are not as easy to manufacture as other weapons due to the extreme energy density they usually handle, which results in a less mod-friendly product ", she said. "However, if any engineer out there wants to learn about our beams, we will provide any necessary materials to facilitate their work. Specifically, we would like to work with them to find a way to make the weapon more efficient, focused or even overcharge it."

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll take that under advisement.

Title: Passenger Ship barely Escaped

Passengers of the flight MAR-279 returning from the black hole in the Maia System reported they were attacked by Pirates.

Mr. Fabian Pest, a first class Passenger stated that for a while he felt like lookin into an oven with fresh baked cookies. The emergency instructions where given and he went on his way to the escape pods when he hear a loud buzzing sound combined with hissing.

When we ask CMDR Marty Spiral how he manageded to escape this hot situation he said:"They used Thermal Shock weapons to increased the heat of the ships hull.
The heat sinks was malfunctioning quickly so I hacked the fuel scoop and released compressed hydrogen fuel.
That significantly reduced the heat of the ship and reduced weight so we gain speed and could jump to a system where they can't follow us.

After the save return into inhabit space the pessengers payed some bonus credits for these amazing piloting skills and other CMDRs asked for a copy of this fuel scoop hack.

Commander Name: Marty Spiral

Ian, I suggest you lock this thread and put a link to the new subforum in the first page, as people looking to submit their articles will not scroll up this thread to see your message. Just my 2 cents.
