Game breaking panel bug.

Hello! This is my first forum post and unfortunately its a post about a game breaking bug. (If you don't have the right controls mapped to the right things you can't get out of it)
This bug completely turns off keyboard controls. Nothing will respond EXCEPT THE JOYSTICK. <3
What this bug does
1. Turn off keyboard controls and you can only control via joystick
2. Disable the ESC button, making it so you cant relog to fix it <3
3. If you are in combat, say good bye
How to recreate the bug
1. Open comms panel
2. Go to mail and read any mail
3. Without closing the mail panel, or leaving the mail, press any panel button except comms ofc.
4. You will see that your keyboard will not respond, if you picked left panel go to the galaxy map using your joystick panel control buttons. If you picked the right panel go to the codex, if you picked the middle panel (The map) you will find there is no possible way to get out of the glitch, and a full restart of the game is needed to resume your keyboard controls <3

Turns out this bug has been here for a while. Even 3rd party tools live voiceattack cannot access galaxy map as its mapped though keyboard buttons

Same Here. A few minutes ago I nearly crashed into a station without shields and only 25% hull integrity left. But I still use keyboard controls next to the joystick. But the keyboard doesn't work, when this happens. I hope I won't recieve any mail while in battle =/

Just had it again, even worse this time, i was reading mail and i got thrown into hyperspace, couldnt do anything

hi, i have 2 solutions for this problèm : (for PC)

i have affect the galaxie map key on joystick ( for me : thrustmaster 160000 N°8 ) :
when keyboard not responding, i open and close galaxie with joystick (8) and .. miracle, keybord now responding

when you are in com menu go out ONLY with ESC or ESC and left MAJ.

i don't no why .. but that work

(i use a traductor .... )

Wow, same thing happened to me yesterday. I thought the game crashed but no.
I tried every button on my stick and nothing worked. Finally I pressed Galaxy map
which is mapped to my G27 wheel and that worked. After exiting the map all was fine.

I only vaguely remember if I was reading mail or not when this happened.

Happened to me, but if you drop out of super cruise with joystick button everything responds again

This is what I've figured out when it locks up on me. I usually click on the system map keybind on my joystick and it returns to normal.

I have been experiencing the same problem, disappointing to see that this bug has been around for even only a couple of weeks considering how catestrophic it could be. I had this bug happen to me while I was checking my missions on the left panel (keyboard 1 key), without warning I was interdicted (as I could not see the AI comms from this view), I could not exit the left panel so could not evade the interdiction, could not use ESC to try to get out of the panel, nothing. My ship was destroyed so I lost three missions and their unique cargo worth around 10m, plus my Type -7 which I had to pay the rebuy for; I also lost rep and was fined for failing the missions.

I can get out of the bugged instance by using Alt+Tab to switch back to the Windows desktop, right-click and choose to close the Elite program from the Task Bar, then switch back to Elite and select No twice, this brings me to a point where I can get back to the main menu or exit to desktop, getting back to the main menu (exiting the current game) and going back in solves the keyboard problem until it happens again seemingly at random (it never happens to me on the 2 comm panel, only on the side panels 1 or 4, but that might be just by chance).

This is a very bad bug, it needs to be fixed immediately or the cause found at least.

For now I will try mapping galaxy map to one of my T.16000 buttons and see if that helps, thank you for that tip.

would be nice to hear something on this from the devs, it's been around since at least the last major content update (december/ january?), when moving from comms panel to another panel (for me, it's when i go to contacts panel), it will just lock up and you can't switch back to regular view. have to exit back to menu and reload to fix it. this is game breaking.
