Game is now GARBAGE

I'm curious - where did you get this age/elite preference data from?

I for one have been astonished (and kinda pleased) how young much of the explorer community is and considering how large a portion of this forum's visitors that represents I'd say the poll on the AI difficulty pretty dramatically refutes your claims.

Out of interest how old are you, do you just want to explore outer space?

I said "a fan base" - NOT "the only fan base". There is a difference. But, based what I'm seeing, there is a huge chunk of people who are not looking for "all action all the time".

I am 33, and I enjoy the combat. The AI is not a problem for me.

What I said was not based on self-interest or confirmation bias. I can hold my own in a dogfight.

i dont have lots of money nor do many, and i cant AFFORD to lose 1 ship let alone 3 rebuys in one session. this is part of the disconnect between the git guds and the rest of us. not all of us have unlimited play time; not all players have massive amounts of money to fund rebuys and a pure trade ship with a reasonable safe trade route to spam some more cash if they need. not all of us forgot the huge grind to get out of the winders because we didnt do the video things and farm res and go for a python - because we wanted to play differently. and now we cant. we darent lose the ship, but we cant fight all the interdictions if we have cargo - so trading is not happening. if you dont like pure combat youre screwed too, but if you like occasional combat now you need to be in a combat ship all the time. and you will still die. i want to do some trade some exploring and sometimes defeat those npcs that interdict. cant afford to risk it. elite with all combat is not fun - i wasnt after star commander wing commander and xwing vs tie fighter (yes i have played those games - except star commander). i was after elite.

for you losing a few ships meh it was funny and you enjoyed it ; just buy another one and all good. for me its more than one days play gone in an instant plus if it happens again before i can recoup its more and more incentive not to play to avoid losing and avoid the dull grind back up from sidewinder.

once the interdiction bug and the threat levels of the USS bugs are sorted i imagine a lot of this will die down. i think if they can tweak the interdicting ship loadouts to not be killing people in seconds and give them reasonable chance then most people will like the AI - or at least better than 2.0.

I understand that, however you then need to look at it from another perspective. In a trader with mine launchers you can make a decent amount of money, even if you only can play 4 hours a week. To be hones I do not play many hours simply because I do have a wife and kids somewhere running around, and they also want some attention.

I'm not saying git god to you, I'm saying it to myself. I love a good challenge , in any game. If i want to relaxing gameplay, I play Cities Skylines or something.

Watch VJ videos, he are doing some pretty good tutorials. OA also started a new commander and make a "new player" series.

OK that's all cool I wasn't meaning to diss you - I just don't think there is such a large faction of old folk who can't cope, and I don't think the only option is "all action all the time".

ha ha, we're in the same boat i see. i just removed ED's icons from my desktop so i wouldn't be tempted to launch the game any more

just finished trying to cart some cargo from one system to another one jump away. 750Ls to the station. kept on getting interdicted. over. and over. and over. the same elite anaconda every time, lots of messages from the cops, but they never showed up. if they did show up i might have had a shot at fighting him off.

did i die? no. was i able to successfully run and escape each time? yes. did i have fun doing this? none at all.

i do not want to have to buff my 200t or 400t trade ships so they are now combat ships with only 64t cargo space, if i want to fly a combat ship i have plenty of those in dock.

every interdictor is elite, without exception. that's just ridiculous. i lost count after the 15th interdiction, slowly inching my way to the station. when i asked myself "why am i doing this?" for once i didn't have an answer.

enough is enough. i'll check back in another month or two and see if any changes have been made.

Hey - you know in real life, when you get a bully ... if you run 100 yards and stand behind a tree do they wander off and decide they'll leave you alone?
Not really, unless there's an easier victim nearer.
Why would a bully in a spaceship behave any differently?

Avoid the interdiction, or submit and HIGH wake out so you shake them off.

true, if you EXPECT to be obliterated beyond the range of the lasers we mere mortals have, etc etc! :p
note again, I didn't fight the anacondas and python, ASAP, I chaffed/boosted/max speed and ran, which normally allows plenty of range/time to low wake out
remember A rated python, 2 A0 shield boosters, and used shield cell bank and still got ganked somehow when the enemy were MILES behind me.
wasn't missiles, and saw lasers around me. so something seriously borked is going on.

defeated 3 or 4 mid-level Vultures that attacked me in 1 on 1 fights ob same day, much harder than usual to do though not helped by fact the new Large multicannons *SUCK* because some idiot gave them such a terribly long "spin up time" :/ I should have stuck to turreted pulse lasers, sigh
In RL, miniguns/Vulcan cannons DO NOT need 5 seconds to spin up before they can damn well fire.

the Python, my fave ship, has been hit by the nerf stick on top of all the glitches, and I incurred a HUGE loss of time/effort (losing 30 million or so is nothing to some of you, it's a LOT of play time to others) and I ain't happy, not one damn bit.

I think maybe the problem that most people express with the new npc's can be boiled down to the fact that NPC's have perfect aim, GTA V cop like where they snipe you miles away with a handgun.
Now it could be argued that they should be great especially if Elite, but yeah, perfect control and aim, near regardless of rank? that can frustrate a lot of people, I don't mind personally I learned how to deal with GTA V cops and their perfect aim, I can learn to deal with this.

I fly a python myself, and saving up for a dirty drive upgrade because I think that will help its agility a good bit.

fed up with this <awesome>, WTH have you done <that's nasty>?

Killed TWICE today, had ENOUGH of it

Distress call lvl 2 threat, what do I get? 2 anaconda and a python (master/dangerous), and cannot outrun them before they somehow manage to destroy my A rated Python with 2xA0 rated shield boosters each with engineer upgrade which should be +20% on both of 'em
NPCs flinging missiles like D-Day barrage (and yes I DO have a point defence unit)
And how the hell have their weapons got such enormous range?
and other variations on such stuff have made gamne unplayable for me

from a 55 million credit I'm now down to 9 million iirc in THREE DAMN DAYS!

Threat levels are WAY off
how the hell can my well geared ship keep getting smashed?
how are these pirates getting such over powered gear?
and why do I BOTHER TO PLAY YOUR GRIND <AWESOME> ?

Enough is enough, this game can go to hell until they fix it.

AND SHUT UP any jackass who says "learn to play" or whatever: I was playing Elite Frontier before some of you were in nappies
and NO I will NOT play in "groups"

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! [mad] [down] [down] [down]

and PS
TO hell with you to, forum editor, <shiney awesomeness> is not "awesome" (any of you notice that little bit of censorship?)

That´s is ED now.

Unfortunately, at each new update, things in game, only become worse.

sure but it is most likely illegal to throw the devs out in a bin

Oooh sick burn. Should go on tour with that kind of wit.

Where the butthurt congregate, there will be much puerile jawflappery. I've had a good time watching this thread, which I plan to re-title "He who wishes to brave the salt mines may enter here".

Spontaneous input terminated. Surveillance and popcorn consumption to resume.

if your intent was to condemn 'puerile jawflappery'... why did you resort to it yourself and thus become the thing you were jeering at?

Most people just throw their garbage out.
They don't stand around shouting how stinky their garbage is at anyone who will listen.

Unless they spent a bunch of money on something they didn't feel was garbage before hand, only to have someone else get an idea in their head to change it from something they liked to some they don't like anymore.

That's when people tend to "stand around shouting about the garbage".

They didn't ask for it to be changed, they were happy with what it was before the change. Now, they're coming out of the woodwork because they're no longer satisfied with how their money was used.

Good thing we don't get any design decisions; this game would get nowhere otherwise.

NPC's need to be moderated or change the name of the game to "Run, Rabbit, Run". They take shields out so fast that Shield Cells are difficult to use unless you trigger one as soon as you lock on.

This is true, we also wouldn't get to watch all the wonderful drama unfold. Imagine how boring the forums would be if everyone was happy!
A bunch of hippies standing around in a circle wishing "peace, love and joy-joy feelings" to each other from behind that glazed look of brainwashed simplicity doesn't sound like much fun. Indeed, the salt of the oppressed fuel the giant machines of change, and my own joy-joy feelings of course.

Step back 20 odd years and imagine this scenario:

Dear Nintendo, super Maro world is rubbish!

I died 400 times to those <awesome> <petunia> koopas! Game is broke! And that sonic the hedgehog is a big steaming pile of <goldfish lips> as well! That robotnik dude needs to be nerfed!

I quit mario, and yoshi is useless.

I felt the same way about those <awesome> UFOs that popped out every couple levels in Asteroids; I mean, I'd just gotten good with spinning in a circle shooting rocks and then SOMETHING SHOOTS BACK AT ME?!?!?! This game's too hard! (In my day, we didn't even have the term "broken" - we had to use "too hard") I want my quarters back!

And don't get me started on Pong.
