My problem is also affecting new games. I don't think it is a problem with the save files.That happened to me for a few months. My computer struggles to play pz and my zoo was like 800+ hours of detail (one zoo) it was massive. And my computer struggled with it until in October it corrupted every file randomly. I contacted PZ they can't help retrieve anything so I lost 800 hour zoo. And who wants to play after that. My new zoo is about 10 hours in and I have very little fun starting over from scratch.
Be careful! Sounds like you could be in for a surprise. I recommend backing up all the games files (not with steam) but physically finding them in your program files and making copies of the zoo file.

once I hit around 5K guests in franchise, my fps drops down to 15-20. game freezes more often until it eventually stops. sometimes it comes back after minutes, most of the time it does not. in the early stages of a zoo I usually get around 60-70 fps but it worsens the more I build and the more...steamcommunity.com

I just tried that today and the problem stills there.Have you tried playing a new sandbox game from scratch?
It happened to me a long time ago. My pc more than meets the requirements, so I went to play another game and indeed there were no problems with the slowed down camera. It was only in that sandbox that for some reason after an update it stayed that way.
It never happened to me again.
I hope it's just that.
@Chante Goodman I know it is the holidays but is the team investigating these issues? My holidays break will be wasted in a lockdown without planet zoo :'(

The dev team, like most of the company, will be on a holiday break until after New Years. Support are still available to contact, so would be best to reach out to them ASAP so they can look into the issue!
