Game Over Man!

muthax, saying that 'no-one cares' is not a 'statement'.. It's your (frankly, arrogant) opinion....And if you're that thick that you can't see past the term 'End Game' and digest the actual question I'm asking, then, really, I feel a bit sad for you.

So you haven't understood have you? Why you think most peoples answers seem like they ...dind't read your post
Not too bright, to quote a famous movie

OP, can I politely suggest that if you really want positive discussions in this thread that you focus on those people who are posting what you want to see rather than replying to every single post that is in anyway slightly off your indicated intent. If not, it will be end-thread, never mind end-game.

I'm trying (see my previous post). But there's so many of them.. and they're so sanctimonius.

So, I put it to you, if you were a Frontier Dev and had to add something that was a layer above the 'Buy Ship' cycle, what would it be?

Build a base.

You survey a planet find it rich in minerals/foliage/whatever. You buy and deliver a 'self-build-base' module - which requires various amounts of various commodities to self-build to completion - differing dependent upon type of base and planet.

You can either post (and pay for) jobs to deliver the goods on the local (say 20ly radius) Bulletin Boards, or you can deliver the goods yourself.

Once all commodities have been delivered, the module becomes a fully-functioning, fully-autonomous outpost. Your reward is that the outpost is named after you, plus a once-off bonus payment.

My tuppence worth.

This is what I think...if anyone dares to use a 'trigger' word (Warcraft, FPS, Eve, End Game) some guys immediately stop reading and post their usual diatribe. You yourself have admitted to doing that. When I post, I have the manners to actually try and appreciate the other person's viewpoint, even if I don't ultimately agree with it. I have no time or patience for close-minded people.

As for your final comment, I'm not going to get into trading insults with you.

Anyway, let's agree to disagree and hopefully this thread can move on.

Ok, so someone's just posted that ED could do with some 'End Game'. I realise that a lot of you don't like the phrase, or indeed the concept, BUT I can see what they were getting at; Elite needs something other than the Buy Ship > Earn Credits > Buy Ship cycle.... something bigger... something more long-term. Something that could potentially take years to achieve. So, I put it to you, if you were a Frontier Dev and had to add something that was a layer above the 'Buy Ship' cycle, what would it be?

ED already features more than "Buy Ship > Earn Credits > Buy Ship cycle.... something bigger... something more long-term".
And it's just the beginning.

. If you feel the game is just a "grind for money and ships" said:
I don't see any other purpose in the game right now. There's no major plots or stories to uncover or follow. If you take away the "grind for money and ships" you are left with nothing but a space sim that lets you travel and visit 400 billion stars, nothing more. I can do that with Starryknight Pro. The game is great but right now there's nothing to do BUT grind for ships. I'm just waiting for extra features.
