Game Thinks I have Mods

So a few weeks ago I scrubbed my game of mods (or at least, I thought I did) to avoid the issues around mods with new updates. None of them were new species mods, it was just remasters and some other things which modded the game to make it more streamlined. I had a backup of all the original files which I swapped back into the game, and then I verified the game files to make sure it was all done.

Update 1.11 drops and I'm experiencing crashes, and I'm getting a pop up:

Because of this, I went through the long process of completely uninstalling the game, and then reinstalling it overnight. I'm not hugely savvy with this stuff so I figured that at least was a surefire way to clean everything up and fully get rid of the mods, right?

Nope. The screenshot I shared is from this morning, after the reinstall. More to the point, my game is still crashing. And it's not like I have any modded animals or modded features in the save file I'm trying to access - I started the zoo after the initial scrub.

Hi!

I had a similar problem with another game, although it wasn't from Steam, so I don't know if the following suggestion can solve it:
When this error occurred after several reinstallations, I simply changed the original path during the next installation - instead of D:/Games/, I created a new folder called D:/Games_new/.

Of course, this requires a full Steam reinstallation.

I hope you can solve it soon!

I'm not sure how to do that on Steam. After uninstalling it only lets me install again, but it doesn't give me the options to change the path.

As far as I know (although I've never tried it), this also requires deleting Steam and reinstalling it from scratch. (Like you bought a new computer or something.)
But let's wait for new - better - answers. Honestly, I hope you only have to do something smaller to fix it than a complete reinstall of everything.
It was just a spur of the moment idea on my part, but then I realized how much work it is and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can suggest a much easier and faster solution.

Fixed it! I still had the ASCE folder in my game files. Deleted that and it's working perfectly again.

Somehow I forgot that it was mod related and not part of the original game. Phew!

Huh, great! Congratulations! This is a much better solution than my suggestion to delete Steam. XD

In the future, verifying your game files removed all mods in case you're not sure if you got them all. It's quick and easy.

Just an FYI, We can't have modders names listed so I deleted that part. if you want to PM them that's fine but it's seen as "promoting" per the rules.

It actually doesn't, FYI. I did it three times, and it happens automatically after a reinstall (which makes four). The folder in question remained.

Sorry about breaking the rules - I've seen certain people get mentioned a lot in relation to modding to I didn't realise. I knew pictures of mods weren't allowed but assumed that was all.
