Game won't load with new Xbox experience

Sometime today, my Xbox One updated itself to the new experience. Now Elite Dangerous won't load.

It tries to -- I get the splash screen, then I get the little four-box loading animator in the bottom left. Then it quits back out to the Xbox dashboard with the message:

Sorry, please try again later
We weren't able to start your game or app. If it keeps happening, try restarting your console.

Yep, tried that (hard reset, power unplugged), same problem. Fantastic. What should I do?

Well I just loged in for a couple minute's so I could finish the trek home frome exploring sell the DATA and upgrade the Reinforced bulkhead's on my Gunship to Millitary, then bought a Sidey to ook at the stat's in the Shipyard section....pretty respectable, but man B rated as it is jump range is only 8ly. :p

I updated like 2 months ago to the new dashboard no complaints everything works fine snaping could use some work and the twitch app has some issues with it but games work fine

Well i have the option to update my Xbox but i think i pass now lol......any news on that??

Mine updated yesterday, installed Fallout 4, being playing that and ED fine without any problems. Must have been a temporary glitch with Xbox live.

If there is any issue running Elite after Updating to the NXOE here. Is a fix.

•Hold down the power button on the Console until it completely powers off.
•Unplug the Power Strp from the wall.
•Wait 2-3 minutes.
•Plug the Power Strip back on.
•Power the Xbox One back on.
•Launch Elite: Dangerous.

Good hunting Commanders o7.

Yeah, I concur. I had a couple of games doing the "syncing data for ......" for ages yesterday after the update, and some serious framerate glitches in Forza 6 during the cutscenes especially, e.g. cars rolling into the pits before a race. ED seemed solid though, and this morning I fired up Rise of The Tomb Raider and Forza 6 with no problems. Probably just xbox.com getting overloaded with the new frontend and associated logins. So far, the NXBE looks superb. Certainly snappier, and the vertical arrangement is less claustrophobic in Dashboard.

I'm sure by now things are working for everyone. Next time this happens, before you pull out any hair performing a bunch of unnecessary steps (clear cash, unplug, plug in, power down ect.) Check the Xbox live system status page. Xbox did say some services were down during the roll out causing some games and apps to not function. Simply waiting until the services go back up is all you need to do.

I was surprised to find my Xbox upgraded itself yesterday. I was aware of an new dashboard coming, but I had forgotten all about it in the weeks after first hearing of it. Then BAM. Everything is working fine for me, and I like the new look.

Yeah...I love how the console stealth downloads and updates if it's not turned on. It was so convenient to turn on the Xbox yesterday and find the new dash installed and up and running without any prompting or awareness from me. I find little touches like that really help make the service we get shine and makes me realise what a quality next gen product we have. :)

I believe that's if you have it set to, I forgot the real name, but it's a "soft off" option. It's not really truly off. That enables to console to turn on faster and such.

I've had the new interface for some time now (preview on two consoles) and I've had this problem off and on since getting the new desktop. I definitely get it more often on the box that runs wireless, but it was a general bug in the OS since it was called out as one of the bug fixes. Only problem is that while it is occurring less often, it is still occurring for me. Generally, I don't have to do anything except try again after a few seconds. Sometimes I have to reboot the console, but that is rare.

It is also an open invitation to problems with games that use a lot of memory like ED does. The XB1 OS can go south over time, and since this SLEEP mode never refreshes the OS with a reboot, over time the XB1's memory can get hosed and start causing problems with game performance and stability.

Because of this, I always advise all my friends with an XB1 to avoid that mode and instead start the machine up fresh from a cold start each and every time they run it. The console will be a lot more stable and reliable as a result.

Only time I use that Instant On mode is if I know a big update is coming and switch over to that in order to download the update during downtime. Once the update is installed, I switch the console back to the Energy Saver mode that totally shuts down the console when you power it off.

GTA5 for XB1 is a good example of how using that Instant On mode can create all kinds of strange problems with the game that those running with the Energy Saver mode never encountered. ED has also seen its share of similar issues that only effect those running with Instant On enabled.
