Game won't save (Planet Zoo)

Anyone else having this problem? When I try to save there is an error on Franchise mode, and when i tried it on challenge mod it just crashed my game. Mine says: "Failed to save 'bfcbb08b-0251-4462-9423-a4c892e6b33a' (I apologies if this isnt the right discussion thread, but i didnt see any thread matching what i was looking for so i figured general would be fine)

I’m having more trouble that campaign mode doesn’t have a save button. I guess it autosaves but I prefer doing it myself to be certain.

I have the same problem. I Had this problem during the beta as well, the only difference is after each update, the error code would change. I tried updating my graphics card and that didnt help. I also have never gotten a response from the developers. Let me know if you find a fix pleaseeeeeeee. I am dying to be able to make progress and not have to start over every time.

I have the same problem. It crashes when i try to save in tutorial / sandbox / challenge mode. I cant try franchise as i have no wifi atm. Do you think it could also be a problem of my laptop? It has sub-minimum specs but runs fine in the game, only saving makes it crash. I'm scared to go beyond playing 2 hours as I won't be able to return it if the problem perseveres. The message I get when it crashes is attached, it reads: "oops, Planet zoo has crashed! If you want our help in solving this issue, you can state below what you were doing when the game crashed. Thank you!"

I didn't get any error code. I also reported it in the issue tracker

I get the same crash thing in career mode. I only get the failed to save message error code in franchise. Im afraid to play too long too or put any effort into building anything.

Hi. I had the same problem. I think I have a solution, it worked for me :) On the site https://www.guideoui.com/planet-zoo-save-game-file-location/ under the headline "Save Game File location" you can see where the game is saved. When I installed the game, I didnt have any folder called "Saved Games". So I created a new folder with this name and the other folders "within" "Saved games" and it worked :) I also got information that my graphic card wasnt updated (but it is). I just skipped that information and the game started.

This issue is still going on :( Thanks for the info Almacs but I tried it and had no luck. I was able to save initials for the first few hours, then the game kept crashing after 30 seconds. Now I can't save anything. It's a shame if I miss out on the group quest cause of this....

same, I'm unable to save the game in all modes. How can I fix it admin ?
I buy game but cant save the game .

Good Morning Chibi,

I have found a fix for it that worked for me. Try the steps below and let me know if it works for ya.
1 - go to library in steam
2 - right click Planet Zoo
3 - select Properties
4 - select the "Updates" tab
5 - make sure you put a check mark in the box beside "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Planet Zoo"
6 - should be able to start your game and be able to save.

Now if "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Planet Zoo" is greyed out and you can't check mark the box continue on to number 7 below.

7 - If greyed out left click the "Visit Settings / Downloads + Cloud"
8 - under "settings" left click "Cloud"
9 - put a check mark in the box beside "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications which support it"
10 - try starting your game now and try saving. Should work now.

Let me know if there are any further issues with it and I might be able to help you

I have had the same problems with the Beta as well as the game: it would not save and my game crashed everytime. I found out the my private map (c:\users\your computername was on read only. I cleared the read only checkbox and now it works :).

it didn’t when I posted that message. Believe me I checked. Now it does have it however there is a bug which makes me unable to fix the fence in the second campaign story. (Though it did work the first time around).

Same issue with save, a message that told me it won't works, and now solved.

Go to %userprofile%\documents
Double click on "Frontier Developments" folder and if it's the same as me, show you a rights problem message.
If error :
Right click on "Frontier Developments" folder
Properties > security (tab) : my user wasn't in the list, so no rights to access, that's why i had this boring message
If user not in list :
Click on Modifiy > Add (button) > enter your session's user name > "check names" and then "OK"
Back on the list, your name is in, click on it and in the lower windows set authorisations to "full control" then OK.
Restart the game and then it works o//

I finally found a way to resolve it on my end and I can now save again.

I have 2 PC's that I use to play the game, I figured the Steam Cloud Synchronization might be the issue and it was. Below is how I resolved it.
- I located my userdata folder in steam which is the spot where the Cloud Synchronization files are stored. In my case since I installed steam on my D:\ this is the location of mine.
"D:\steam\userdata"
  • Inside the "userdata" folder is another folder that should be marked with numbers. I deleted everything inside the userdata folder on both PC's.
  • I restarted both PC's and tried the game again.
  • I was able to finally save on both PC's again.
