Game Won't Start After Update 13

This is all I'm getting (Steam version)

It said it had downloaded the update on the downloads manager but it couldn't have because I'd only switched on - I followed the instructions below and nothing happens. Switch off - switch on - many times - Nvidia update and Windows update went through since and still this is all I'm getting tonight.

So I've been scrambling around trying to figure this out and it looks like a Steam issue - something got stuck somewhere. So I tried verifying the files through Steam and at the end of the process it FINALLY decided to start downloading the update! So I'm off to see it the game loads now and I'll be back to inform thread of outcome.

ahhh yes the apparent freezing of the launcher if you have clicked install and it appears stuck at prepping the update that's just to fool you into thinking it's frozen and broke
but it isn't its just downloading on the sly
just gota wait its that simples it will take about three hours @tm

Also per that game frozen message asking if you want to send a file to Frontier. Just leave it alone, don't close it or anything, and the launcher will complete the update after a long time. I read Forum posts and ate dinner while waiting. :)

This is all sounds like non-Steam advice?

Didn't seem to be downloading in the background in my case and I had to somehow jump start the process back into action by verifying the game files through the Steam client.

Thing about Steam is there only seems to be options to auto-download updates some way - doesn't seem to be a button or option to search for updates and install. A fairly basic feature that might have helped solve my issue anyway (unless there is a way to do this that I couldn't see)

Anyway, hope those still having problems get it fixed somehow..

yes apologies for the highjack I was referring to spliffys post, steam should be done via the steam library page game icon properties (same for all games) if problems arise as far as I am aware
ie
keep files auto updated
check integrity of game files etc

No problem at all

I guess now I know how to fix a stuck update - if only finding a solution had been a bit easier for me this time

It would make more sense to ask about Steam related issues over at Steam really wouldn't it? I'll see what I can do about that next time..
