Gamemusicpacks.com VMX Player 2.0 release

Hi all,

Pretty hyped for the Beyond update, Frontier!

VMX Player 2.0 for VoiceAttack: https://gamemusicpacks.com/downloads/vmx-player-2/

So, this week we launched our very unique next gen audio/music/content ecosystem in the guise of VMX Player 2.0. Past users may be familiar with our Exploration Pack, a Music Pack and VMX audio system combined.
VMX Player 2.0 is entirely different, which sees the entire system split up as a modular system. You can run VMX Player 2.0 alone (without a Music Pack) if you want slick, powerful voice control access to your own music & there will also be regular updates (bringing new features/improvements). You can also use our own Music Packs in context mode which effectively replace the soundtrack of Elite's with our own, dynamically triggered by game. They can still also play as a voice controlled album of course. A free Demo Music Pack is bundled with VMX Player. There are now 2 Music Packs available, the new Trade & Mission Pack with 39 soundtrack replacement tracks from Alien Encounters to combat, faction themes, economy themes, take-off, SRV music and so on. I'll do a separate post for that. The Exploration Pack also runs on VMX 2 and adds in 11 more tracks (6 more coming soon) for Exploration buffs.

VMX Music Packs also let you add/remove/replace instruments within a mix on the fly, so you can remove percussion, vocals, change the key and more!

I'll just briefly explain other VMX Player 2 capabilities:

  • VMX G.L.I.D.E dynamic transitions & fades based on what you are doing in game (slow track blending when entering things like system map, quick transition for combat)
  • Organic soundtrack control- keeps track of what you are doing in game and makes differing decisions for music offering, doesn't always rigidly keep to the same track for an event unless it's a theme like for Empire that requires it, even then it may change depending on where you are

  • Handle both your own music and ours

  • You can drag and drop your own playlists,

  • Have those playlists triggered by Elite: Dangerous events (i.e your favourite movie soundtrack playlist triggers on combat/docking/undocking etc),

  • Organise and manage playlist event assignments all via voice- it's incredibly powerful & easy

  • Also use internet radio, spotify control, hand off to control other players

  • Hybrid Audio Blocks 2 (returning in free update 2.1)- AI controlled dynamic music generation system, composes music from small blocks of audio and layers them together. It can tie into context mode for automatic mood detection or let users choose the mood.

  • Control EQ via useful presets

  • You can now also use TTS voices or our own new Voice Expansions, ranging Obsidian Ant, Trump & Morgan Freeman.
*Voice Expansions are very different beasts to voice packs, they're not ship controlling AI and probably never will be.

The update notification system is all integrated within VMX as well, so it's all easy, quick, neat and tidy as can be.

There's a lot more! Can't really do it justice in one post. Check out the link above. VMX & Music Packs are a huge amount of work, I work full-time on this project because it demands it, but I really think we have something special.
Thanks for reading and thanks so much for your support. Only the amazing Elite community makes a project like this possible.... and that's me talking, not the booze. [where is it]

Can I load up more than one music pack? Also do the voice packs only respond when commands are given or do they make comments during context changes as well?

Hi there,

Yes, you can add as many music packs as you like. There are a few different modes within VMX. First mode is, think of it as an album mode, which you can of course replace/remove instruments in etc. This mode you can play/stop/rewind/fast forward/jump to track/pause etc etc. So for this mode, you simply set a pack, literally, you'd say "set exploration pack" for example. So that VMX knows which soundtrack album you want to cue up. However, in context mode, things are different, when you activate context mode, VMX will automatically make use of any music pack you own and will add it to the pool of available context soundtrack music. So all you need do really is switch context mode on or off :)
We do not make Voice Packs. There are HCS and EDD things. We do however make Voice Expansions. Different name, different purpose. We have designed VMX to be as unobtrusive as possible. For two reasons, first, not everyone wants their computer speaking to them all the time and second, those that do, already have Voice Pack which will already be chatting away to them, so we don't want to add yet more chatter to people's bridges. So Voice Expansions give voice feedback mostly in response to commands given/questions asked i.e track info, titles, time remaining, modes set etc etc. There are some interactive feedbacks, VMX is perfectly capable of doing this, but we have confined this sort of thing to update and notification system. That said, there are a large number of responses, all relating to VMX, music management and the ecosystem. There are also some humorous responses injected in at times. It's an important design philosophy for us to not be intrusive with voice. Some people use VMX whilst working too.

Hope this answers your questions. Thanks again.

Hi,

I'll give it a try.
Ergo I cannot download the trademusicpack; it continues to download.
Further more my windows defender messages me there is a trojanhorse in the
Obsidian voice pack.
Please watch out and scan your download files.

Still not clear how to combine the HCS packs and the VMX player.
To me it seems your player has to be the main profile and the HCS the second ?

Hi,

There is no trojan in the files. We would never issue software that contains a virus. The voice expansion is a self extracting audio .rar archive containing audio only. Some people are getting a false positive from smart screen. We've sent samples to Microsoft to help get this sorted.

Visit the online manual for integrating with HCS. It's a very simple process. The technique works for the vast majority of people. If it doesn't, jump into our Discord and we'll get you sorted. I will stress again, there is NO virus in the download files, it is a false positive.
I will be adding a download option within the next hour or so to download the archive as a plain .rar file. This should be up from around 2PM GMT.

Thanks again.

A .rar alternative for Obsidian Ant Voice Expansion is now online. Please use this version if you receive false positives with the self extracting file.

Thanks for your support and patience.

Just a quick update. We have sent the file for analysis submission to Microsoft, it has been confirmed virus/malware free, we have also changed the auto decompression settings as well to be on the safe side. We asked some of the affected users to re test the download and all now appears to work swimmingly. I consider the issue now resolved.

Thanks again.

Thanks for all the work developing and mixing. I spent now two days trying to get more events running than „docked“, „undocked“ or „normal space“. I absolutely see no chance to get it working that music changes in supercruise, galaxy map, signal sources etc. Even google or the homepage couldn‘t help. I have the newest versions running of VA and EDDI.
Can anyone help?

Hi,

Could you email this to support or you're quite welcome to join our Discord if you prefer live help there. We don't want to turn Frontier's forum into a Game Music Packs support forum :) We'd need more information whether you're using music pack (soundtrack) mode or user playlists mode. There shouldn't be any issue with either modes really, we've not heard of any issues with this.

Just a point to note, in the next update available in a few days time, EDDI will no longer be a requirement for VMX. We are switching to our own journal.
