Newcomer / Intro gamepad button not configurable (Dualshock3)

I'm playing with a Dualshock 3 (actually a Dualshock2 PS2 controller with a USB dongle that tells Win10 it's a DS3), works alright, but the SQUARE button (the left button on the right side thumb pad) can not be defined in setup, and when I press it the games enters the Start menu, which is quite annoying, cause i have a useless button now on my Gamepad. Is that standard for this game? I Dont want a "exit" button on my gamepad that does the same as pressing ESC on my keyboard...
I assume Frontier wont fix that or?
Also, I wanna buy an XBOX360 controller, do they have same issue (one button can not be re-assigned)?

I play on PC, DS4 works fine, all buttons assignable (except the finger pad thing).

The only problem I did once encounter, was when I signed up to Steam, which decided to interfere with my control set up, so I got rid of Steam.

Is it working OK on other games?
