And thank you.... See you there?

Brett, (or anyone!) did the guys on the stream talk about the planetary improvements and or show any images outside the press release ones? I know David mentioned it but I didn't see it elsewhere.

Cheers.

That was an awesome Gamescom guys. I loved the spooky messages.

Too bad the final interview was leaked early though. It would've been a nice surprise for the final day.

Thanks to everyone involved in the streams. Really enjoyed them, even boring day 4 recap day. :)

Any chance we can see Matt inson's Elite meet video on the Gamescom channel too?

Question i heard what ships have the fighter bay but why not the asp explorer it has the necessary opening on its back underside behind the srv opening?

So does this mean no more "radio silence" in the Newsletters between now and when the Beta drops (which I suspect should be around mid to late September)? Does this also mean that *maybe* we can start seeing some Dev Updates again?

Also, what are the chances of another patch between now and mid October?

Heard hints of Vulture and Python ship kits.. would love to get more info :) (Seen one screenshot from a Hungarian site, but would love to see more)

I've been so busy lately I haven't had the time to watch all the content and videos. Could someone give me like a list or bullet points of what they've announced and what's coming? I would super appreciate it :)

Passenger missions.
Beluga liner.
Taipan, Condor and Imperial Fighters added to the main game, can be launched from several of the bigger ships. NPC can fly fighters while you control main ship, or vice versa.
NPC crew management/hiring.
CQC 'stations' added to the main game.
New station interiors (refinery, tourism, high tech, agriculture etc.)
Capital ship shipyards in space.
Body kits for the Vulture and Python.
New hyperspace animation
System security level displayed when jumping to next system.
Ship transfer, and module transfer.
Galaxy Map now lets you filter which stars to include/exclude when plotting routes
Planet Map now is textured instead of just a wireframe.
Neutron stars & white dwarfs now have more spectacular flares/ejecta (more dangerous, but can also supercharge your FSD)
New surface items to be 'harvested'
Geysers & tectonic activity? (Not 100% certain on what exactly is coming, and when?)
New station menu.
Aliens. :)

2.2 is shaping up to be another great update, as fantastic an addition as the mission givers and other updates in 2.1 are to me.

Please FD, keep these updates coming.

And who?, you have a great list of specifics, but I think you missed
  • the mention of the other 'stuff to find' that FD are planning to drop out there that is mentioned in the Gamescom day 3 thread from FD
  • Ability to pay fines and collect vouchers at stations with Black Markets from 'shady contacts' that will take a fee for processing these items on the black market; saves players having to travel back to systems that may be too far away to make worth it and clear clutter off the transactions tab
  • I recall but can't pinpoint where some graphic updates to avatars
  • Route plotter updates with dynamic filters (for instance, only scoopable stars, only safe systems, etc.)
  • More paint jobs, including for SRVs

The only thing I saw that I might take issue with is that the "space elevator" shown from CQC to be in-game in 2.2 was not connected to a planet. It's fine to use it for something else, but I was sure hoping it would be deployed as shown in CQC as an actual space elevator. Has this turned out to be impractical or is that still the intent?

Well, if the hunt for either the missing or Thargoids starts on the 28th, assuming that is August 28th, then a patch before 2.2 is in order. But I didn't see where the mystery date was tied to a month yet.

The last decoded message from Gamescom was added to from the accidental early release. It now includes that it wouldn't be fun to just show us the big surprise, so they are going to play a game. Could be Thargoids or could be something else to throw us off, like a colony of The Missing or a new alien race. But sounds like fun.

See below, the left is a Vulture and the right is a Python with body kits. They typically come with several options, i.e. you might be able to choose 1 of 3 tail sections, 1 of 4 winglet types etc. which gives you loads of combinations. It's all cosmetic though - no performance advantage.

Thanks for the exciting news Frontiert.
Even only the Ship Transfer would make the game a lot better. Cant count how often i travelled only to swap my ships :)
