Gametrix Jet Seat

That looks like a great accessory for VR. I too would like feedback from someone who's actually used it in-game.

Since this isn't truly a VR topic, I wonder if it would be better posted in the main or hardware forum. I think it's likely that some ED players have this seat, but it's less likely that they also have a VR rig.

just purchased on behalf of science :)

Please let us know how you like it. I'm thinking I might sneak it past my wife, by claiming it's a massage accessory (which it actually is) as opposed to another expensive gaming toy.

I just wrote to Andre - developer of 3rd party FFB tools for Gametix Jet Seat and sim shakers. He is interested supporting Elite Dangerous but he has no experience with Fdev team so far. To add support to his tool https://andres.shop/13-software he need an API exposing game telemetry data. Can we guys help him somehow ? Any idea where he should start ?

this is great timing for this thread since i ordered my jetseat last week and is on its way. I ordered it mainly for warthunder and dcs but would be great if I could use it for ed too.

Holy moly. That looks better than mums night off bucket. I will look into this as I’m keen to add to the senses.

Flimley

This has been asked for many times by the xsim community for DIY full motion rigs.

And is being utterly ignored by fdev.
It does not exist for ED and is very likely not to exist any time soon considering the amount of feedback.

Well guys,
I've tried my Gametrix JetSeat in its sound capture mode with ED.
It was pretty good. Game sounds have enough low frequency components to make JetSeat working and that really adds impression of the game.
I think it may help to reduce nausea in VR as well.

There was a guy on here who wanted the same thing for his homebrew seat, but no joy from FD, so he took the joytixk input and used that

Edit: Ignore me. Brain fart.

Right, but some sims x dof platform working with ED already without Fdev API tool :

How they set it, I do not know, but, apparently it's possible

AFAIK there is a tool to extract some ED data straight from the PC memory. They say it gets out of order after every ED update and should be fixed.
I'm not sure it's legal.

Since it is motion they simulate they set actions on direct input.
So push stick left, platforms drop an lift accordingly.
But this method is blind to in game events, you crash into something or get shot nothing is triggered.

But this isn't motion, more like a set of transducers than anything so for ED I assume sound output would be the way to go.

I temporarily lost my transducers during the last Windows update and i played one session without them... man did i feel out of the game... When i installed my first 2 transducers under the seat, i was a little disappointed, but soon i found it so immersive, that i added an additional third transducer to the back of the seat. The one on the chairs backside really adds a lot of immersion.

My guess would be, that you need an additional soundcard to support the system you ordered, just like most of us use with custom builds. You then need a software to split the audio signal (like the free Voicemeeter Banana - strange name, but works like a charm and is for free). You send your sound to a virtual device which can be tweaked using the Voicemeeter software. The only downside is, that you have to fire up the software each and every time.

Here is an in-depths thread with lots of interesting contributions by many VR enthusiasts of the forum. You might find something useful there: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/375246-Adding-transducers-to-my-VR-cockpit

[edit] how rude of me... HAVE FUN!!! Bass-Shakers are really awesome :)

It is not allowed and it is not necessary. Splitting the audio-signal and using an equalizer to trim the frequencies that are being sent to the transducer is enough. The regular stereo signal is all a transducer needs.

I dont think so - if you are using Steam Vr app you can duplicate sound in seetings. As an Vive owner all what I need in "Gametrix sound mode" is to connect Gametrix directly to HMD sound output and voila... Game sounds and music still going via sound card - in my case audiphiles DAC and cans

As long as you are able to tweak the frequencies that are going to the transducers you are fine. If not, you will jump on your chair from the music, the station announcer and such things, not only from explosions, boost, fireing guns etc. That would be quite annoying. You need to get rid of frequencies above 90 hz for best effects.
