Patch Notes Update Gamma 2.02 Incoming

Sad week for Elite it seems...

So far I've been unable to play since the morning of yesterday. It takes me roughly 3 hours, just to get maybe half of my progress on patching, because the server keeps timing out. (DL @ .03 Mb/s...) And so far all I have read about some of the more tedious additions to the game, aka W&T and Route Planning, is that they are very broken... Here's hoping this doesn't persist until the 16th...

I dont have access to gamma (only combat demo) but I hope FD allow to download/preload the game before 16/12. They need to remember the issues with Sim City and others games in launch day.

Hi,

gamma 2.02 is incoming and should be live in about 30 minutes. It's a hot fix for the movie player issue causing a crash on start up.

I got in (solo play) easy but my first jump has hung in the hyperspace "tunnel" been about 3 or 4 mins i think im going to have to stop the client in task manager.

I see that when I try launching the elitedangerous exe file directly from the windows folder. Getting to this point is a lot better progress than I get if I try running it from the launcher... a frozen empty black window that needs to be killed by the task manager. Same problem for Gamma 2.00, 2.01 and 2.02 so far... I guess at least it is consistent. I never had a problem prior to Gamma 2.00.

Yes, they are legitimately adding features and clearly working hard. But the game should not be released until it's stable, yet I sincerely doubt that the release will be postponed if there are still problems next week. It would be bad PR if they delayed, and bad PR if the game didn't work. The only chance they have is to stabilise the release and fix the bugs without introducing new ones. Frontier also need to work on their release procedures. If they are upgrading the servers, then they need to notify players both in-game and on the launcher, boot everyone off, take the servers down and reposition players at a safe haven. If there are periods of instability following each server change, then players will tire of it quickly.

Is anybody else getting the "Failed to perform mission transaction". when trying to take missions from the bulletin board?

Yes. This is a new issue for me in 2.02.

At least you are able to play the game. After briefly playing 2.02 (and noticing something similar to what you reported) I lost connection to the server, and can no-longer get back in game. Meaning I fail Missions that I accepted, through no fault of my own...
