I just read FD's policy of keeping things reasonably quiet as a way to avoid spoiling the wow factor when we get to experience them in their full glory. Maybe I am just too charitable.
I think a bit more openness would be beneficial. I don't think they need to be as open as Cloud Imperium, as that project pretty much has run out of relevant things to say. "Look, our 200 man team has collectively managed to tweaked three new vertices on our fiftieth ship this week!" and "we may or may not be thinking of doing X further down the line".
Some kind of middle ground between FD's current communication stance and CI's would be perfect imo. For example letting us know what they're working on at the moment would be great, and giving us a few carefully chosen things to look forward to in the next wave.
David can be as selective as he wishes as to what to reveal or not, but I believe at least a *tiny* glimpse under the hood would be prudent given the form he's chosen to fund this project.
PS. Note, I'm not bashing Chris, have tremendous respect for him and think he's caring exceptionally well for the community, but feel CI could do with keeping the lid on until they actually have something to show and talk about.
