Gamma Settings broked

Yesterday I tried to adjust the gamma from the main menu before entering the game. The value was locked at the middle position and nothing would move it, or remove the gamma adjustment panel from the screen.

Using escape to get back to the main menu allowed me to hit 'continue' (with gamma adjustment covering 90% of the screen) and eventually the game loaded showing the view from my docked ship except for 90% of the view being obscured by a giant gamma adjustment panel :)

I had to kill the process to get my computer back, after which I was able to adjust the gamma in the graphics settings file.

Yeah happens to me too. I remembered it exists after a long time and I couldn't adjust it because it doesn't move and gets stuck on my screen.

Same here. Please. And i can't login on Frontier Support, nice. I just changed my cpu, motherboard, etc. and reinstalled Elite Dangerous.

Having the same issue here. Nvidia 5080 GPU - Intel i9 12900k CPU. Need to tweak the Gamma after GPU upgrade as a little dark now, but unable to do so.

I got this last night. I logged into Legacy to change the gamma there instead. Presumably it can also be manually edited in whichever text file the graphics settings are stored in until the lock up is fixed.

Yes indeed. For anyone who needs to adjust the gamma before this bug is fixed, you can edit the <GammaOffset>0.000000</GammaOffset> line in the
Code:
C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\Settings.xml
file. Mine is currently set to 1.03 or something, which IIRC makes it brighter.

You can also adjust the gamma per game in your GPU vendor tools.

Not quite sure why y'all want ED to be correct and everything else look muddy anyway

This works well, sorta.

I run 2 accounts.

First account without Odyssey, second account WITH Odyssey. Using two separate launchers as per standard practice.

First (non-Odyssey) account: Gamma set to zero in Settings.xml and appears normal in game.
Second (Odyssey) account: Gamma set to zero in Settings.xml and is bright as the sun in game.

How can it use the same Settings.xml file and have 2 different values in game.

Are there registry entries as well?

Also note: In the nVidia app there is one profile for the game exe that both accounts use.

That's odd. Are you certain that they both are really using the same Settings.xml file? E.g. what happens if you adjust the gamma offset?

If I adjust the gamma offset in the only Settings.xml file that exists, the gamma will change in the first (non-Odyssey) game but remains the same in the second game.
