I appear to have 2 directories "Frontier Developments" and "Frontier_Developments" which is the right one?

Deep breaths and relax. Sometimes somethings just happen. The Devs will sort it out and are just looking for some immediate feedback from us on a developing issue.

No spinning at all here (well < 30s) , and no changes made

Take it easy! The whole POINT of the small patches and "band-aid" is so that on tuesday, when it's released, it's not "unethical and immoral" putting it on sale.

EDIT: modifying the xml file didn't help. It still spins...

Just got in to game after waiting a bit on spinning ship, also turned on then off anti-aliasing, this was fix I used on previous builds

Changed it,
loaded up exacly the same and Im left looking at a spinning orange ship.
Dunno if its best to leave it or get into task manager and end it.

Did you try to change some graphics settings ? Borderless etc... It might help.

Open task manager, find elitedangerous32.exe right click and open file location.
