If you could confirm for me that this new executable fixes the problem for you that would be great!

and replace your EliteDangerous32.exe wherever the game is installed for you and try again.

no joy on my end. Still get spinning ship hang with group and solo starts

edit: was, however able to get into open play. Not my preferred mode, however.

Still doesn't answer why some of us can't even create a private group therefore use this alleged fix!!!

Replaced the EXE, verified it was this new version that was being loaded. Still stuck at the spinning ship screen for ~5 minutes in solo mode. About to quit and try again in open play.

Re-named the old EliteDangerous32.exe, pasted the new one in, ran the launcher, logged in, click play, launcher appeared to hang for a minute with nothing but the standard spinning Windows circle, then went in, clicked Open play and have now been waiting 5 mins with a spinning ship...

Can you PM me your commander name, please? I would like to take a look at your account set up.

Tried this, still couldn't get into solo or open but can get into my private group I created.

Tested solo and didn't work with the new .exe.
While I was writing this post it connected to Open with the new .exe

The replace did not work for me
Also there's still the long wait after start from launcher

right managed to get in via the following:-

- change the 1 and 0 as mentioned earlier

- create private group

- edit gfx options to change to windowed mode

- enter game as private group

- save and exit to menu

- change gfx back to fullscreen from windowed

- enter game and you should have no spinning ship.

I'm sorry to say that solves the spinning ship for that session only.
After exit the game and the exit the launcher, and restart the spinning continues

My guess is that you don't have any friends added in-game, and aren't part of any in-game groups.

same here spinning ship with new exe - scratch that windows is replacing the new exe with the old one! I think! win 8.1 opied it in again will try reboot before launch.
