Also, good luck with that

Alright, I've been putting out some feelers to see if there's any interest in this and there seems to be quite a bit.
I am offering gank evasion training to any players that wish to play in open and would like to learn how to survive getting ganked by other players. The idea here is to allow players to actually practice surviving a gank instead of just watching a video and hoping you remember everything when the time comes.

First of all:
-I am currently only offering this to players on PC (if I can find some gankers on console that are willing to train, it might eventually become an opiton)
-You must be in the bubble or Colonia so we can train with you
-You must have a headset or a way of communicating with us

How this will work is, we will attempt a gank on you (don't worry, no death is necessary until you're ready) while talking you through all the steps on how to survive our attack. We will start with the basics first, submitting to an interdiction and high waking, and then make it increasingly more difficult until you feel like you're ready for the gauntlet. The gauntlet will be a full wing of gankers playing for real, using FSD disrupt missiles and wake scanners while you try to escape.

At this point, you're never gonna convince the entire ganking community to stop ganking so I'm offering a way to survive their attacks and to be able to go about your business without the fear of seeing a rebuy screen. I think this will be a fun way to connect with the community and my hope is that those we train will pass down their knowledge to other players.

If you're here just to talk trash about gankers, that's fine but I will be removing any negative players from the discord that join just to talk trash.

Also, if you are a ganker and wish to become a trainer as well, you're more than welcome to join. However, if you just use this as a way to gank, I'll just ban you from the discord. Also, if you're someone I don't know, I will need to have you to show me that you are capable of surviving a gank yourself to ensure that you're giving other players proper training.

Join this discord to sign up and @ me to get your roles.

Edit: If you're not comfortable joining a discord, feel free to add me as a friend in game and send me a message and I'd be happy to give you some private lessons using the in-game chat. My CMDR name is Sir Ganksalot

I have never played in open, so I have a question. Is interdiction via player vs npc pirate that much different? I find avoiding npc interdictions to be decently easy to accomplish so I never understood the submit tactic.

Yes. Avoiding a skilled pvp interdiction is like night and day harder than a pve encounter.
Much like the combat that inevitably follows.

As @Sup3rfluiD said, winning an interdiction to a player is 10x harder than winning to a NPC but what makes the submission tactic essential is that it drastically shortens your FSD cooldown allowing you to jump away quickly. If you lose to the interdiction to a player, you will be dead by the time your FSD cools down.

If you get interdicted by a player in open you want to make sure to submit to the interdiction, put full pips to shields and 2 to engines, select a system to jump to, boost towards your attacker while charging and high wake.

If you ever decide to give open a try, let me know and I'd be happy to help you.

I'd like to do some pvp in the future even tho open play is pure anarchy. But without a pvp engineered ship, no.

If i get bored with what i'am doing right now i will build a pvp ship to join you for some practise and friendly duels. I would likely be on the other side of the trenches. More of a law and order guy myself. There should be high player bounties. Might attract more folks to pvp.

Where is the hottest gank spot these days, is it still Deciat or Shin?
Yeah. We were hanging around the mining spots for a bit but I'm guessing that's gonna be dead now. We also go down to Asterope to mess with AXI too sometimes. To be honest, I haven't ganked in awhile other than ganking friends occasionally so I really don't know.

First of all, don't let other people scare you with their tall tales of how terrible open is. I flew around in open for 5 months on PC with little to no engineering and had a few gank attempts on me but nothing I couldn't escape from. I fly in open everyday, even had a fat bounty on my head, and rarely came across other players.
I'll even fly with you a bit if you're willing and show you, you have nothing to worry about.

I love teaching people PvP, especially lawfuls, because maybe one day I'll train some people that have more dignity and are more fun to fight with then Spear and will actually challenge us outlaws.

The thing I said a month ago? Let me go back and read...

Open Play isn't a barrel and CMDRs aren't fish.

Sorry, would've replied sooner, but busy. Just be grateful you have so much free time.

You can be as pedantic as you like, but this is a thread of gankers trying to encourage people into open, or not to head into solo. Won't be the first or the last.

Thank you for your garbage negativity. I'll throw it in the tiny little pile with the others.

Although I must thank you. You bumped my thread and I got 3 more recruits because of it. Thanks

Who's the one being toxic here?
Who's frustrated by the low player count in open? There's tons of players in open, far more than any other mode.
This seems to be another fabrication to fit a particular narrative.

The "majority of players" can be as low as 34 percent in a game with three main modes. FD to my knowledge, have never shown us any percentages or numbers. Perhaps because the combined total in solo and private groups outnumbers those in open? If not, why not show us the numbers?

I think the number of those "not in open" would be far more interesting than talk of majority. Anyone that knows anything about elections, knows that in a three party system, an unpopular party can get elected as long as the other two split the vote.

Oh yeah, toxic. I'd say it's the ones ganking people for zero gain. I've done it many times and gotten bored of it. I realize all I was doing, was driving people out of games and ruining their experience. But I'll participate in ganking as long as there's a purpose to it.

There were a few independent polls done a couple years ago on player modes and in all of them, open was by far the post popular choice. I'm sure someone can find these polls.

If you think all I'm doing here is convincing people to join open, you're mistaken. I'm offering my services to players that are already in open or want to play in open but don't have the confidence.

I've made it very clear in this thread and others that I fully support the modes and players choices to play in those modes.
I have no problem with players choosing solo or PG but I know that there's a lot of players that don't think they have the skills to survive in open and all I want to do is boost their confidence.

There's already more than enough players in open to gank and if you actually ganked and played in open you would know that.

snipped some waffling

As I said, there are no official numbers. Those polled already belong to a tiny minority. (people that play and are also interested in discussing the game) So, social players aren't really a good sample for that poll. I'd like some real numbers so we can know for sure. I'm completely willing to be proven wrong if you can.

How would knowing the relative or absolute numbers change the OP's offer to train players that want some practice, or just to 'experience the true power of the dark side'?
