PvP Gankers and countermeasures

Im sure it will all cool down again during the next pimple challenge out there:x
Slowed down when they were eating tide pods and again when they started to snort condoms. What we need is a championship for these interesting lifeforms so that the breeding cycle is interrupted long enough for some pleasant open game play. In the meantime expect to be attacked at all bases where they sit on the pads and take screen shots of each other over and over again[haha]

Also noob wing ganking and harassment is stupid. How a ganker can get out fun of a extremely unbalanced combat ?

I don't know - it's not something I enjoy. But many people enjoy things that I don't... Who am I to argue?

Notice that a noob does not have the knowledge that a seasoned player has.

Of course not. But how are they to gain knowledge if you recommend that people simply log out when things get tough? As I said above, in my view this is simply ruining your own enjoyment of the game. I think it is much more fun learning how to either fight or escape.

I do not condamn interdiction or kills but those kills that are outside role play or fair play (EX: killed for no reason beside being a noob by 2-3 ships in wing with no messages before, during and after) are meaningless and the only result is see new players retiring in SOLO or abandoning the game.
Menu log is as rude as gankering,

Anyone that plays in Open is fair game. They've consented to be part of a game where others also play, and some may simply want to attack anything they see (or any ship they see that they perceive to be weak). It may not be nice the first time you encounter something like this, but to suggest it is unfair is rubbish.

As a noob I got ganked once. It was a wanted FDL hanging out in Supercruise. My wing mate and I felt confident, so we pulled him down. Before we knew he was in a wing of four. His buddies dropped in and smoked us both.

So what did I do?

Looked up what ship he was flying, fell in love at first sight and decided I would get that ship and never fall victim to something like that again.

Love at first gank, baby. I’m sure I’m not the only one out there who decided to git gud after a gank as well.

A player consent to play a game with you, not being harassed by gankers while trying to play a game (with its mechanics and roles). Gankers have to accept to be blocked or to see their noob underpowered victims that do menu log (if they do not know how to manage a ganker). Simple.

Interdict a wing does not mean they are gankers, just standard PVP gameplay here.

This sounds like you attempted to gank someone and found yourself outganked, did I read that correctly?

Nope. That FDL was lying in ambush. The Wanted status was to bait noobs into pulling it. After interdiction, they sent wing invites to their friends who were hiding in normal space.

They jump up, nav lock, and boom two unsuspecting noobs are facing a wing of four.

Make no mistake: classic gank. :p

Nope, those are additional rules that you are trying to impose on others. They are not part of the game, and everyone is free to ignore them as they wish.

Well yes... "gankers" also need to accept the game rules and live with those mechanics provided by the game.

If they follow the advice that I and other experienced players are offering here, they will know how to manage a ganker. Simple.

If the do, they will probably enjoy the game more. A few rebuys might be worth it.
Mastering these situations feels good in a way.

The Road Runner always seemed to have a good time. Meep, meep. :)

I'm pretty sure the dude wasn't even receiving my messages.
I think he stayed in place, waiting to receive one, and tried to leave when nothing happened.

I try and send the messages to local, and direct, if it makes sense (if they are short). But at that point it is getting pretty messy.

I think some kind of confirmation indicator as to whether your message arrived (or failed), along with an indicator as to whether you have comms disabled would help.

Can confirm messages show as send but definitely don't always appear. This has happened to me with people I've pirated and also people on my friends list.

Most recently I had Eddiscovery running with the voice pack activated. I was winged up with a friend and they were responding the my messages but I wasn't seeing anything. Only reason I knew they were texting was Eddiscovery reading out the messages. Now this could have been a bug to do with Eddiscovery but I've certainly got experience of people not seeing messages so I'm inclined to think it's not Eddiscovery at fault.

one never ever hears a ganker or griefer complain about the inability to gank or grief in solo

I'm guessing you must be NEW to the forum if you never read one of the countless million threads..."Everyone should play in Open" "You should play in Open if you want to affect the BGS or PP" or the more simple "passive-aggressive" style of trying to "taunt" players into open by referring to it as "safe mode" or "training mode" or "easy mode"
Its almost as popular a thread as "You nerfed activity X" or "Elite:Dangerous is dead...I'm just waiting for No Mans Sky/Star Citizen" etc etc

If a bunch of players are preying on helpless rookies they are simply doing what pirates and bandits do. If your job is blowing people up you wouldn't look for equal prey.
Just to rectify statements claiming ganking is anti-rp. Spacegangs! Scary stuff.
But yeah, run any way you can. Spoiling the fun for someone spoiling your fun is a victimless crime :)

Combat logging and griefing. Both annoying. Both irrelevant as long as solo play / private group exist.

I have to agree with this. There should at least be incentives like increased rewards, reputation, and influence gain while in OPEN or at the very least reduced rewards for playing in solo or private. This would provide an incentive to risk playing in open and getting blown up by other players. If you want to discuss fair then that should be your target. As of right now you can influence the BGS with no downside and no risk by playing in solo. Meanwhile there are whole groups dedicated to playing in open trying to push there favorite minor faction and they have zero ways to stop you while you are in solo. So you can hide and screw up there game, while they have zero chance to stop you other then grinding harder then you with more people. That seems unfair to me.
