PvP Gankers in Fleetcomm at Beagle Point

I don’t have a problem with gankers or griefers if I am honest; I see it as all part of the thrill of the game. I certainly don’t see why it’s considered more heinous in certain systems, than in others. I do feel, though, that infiltrating a PG which has a no PVP rule in place, and ganking/griefing the players there is wrong, though I believe this is not a common occurence. But in Open? Nope, not wrong at all. Besides which this hysteria over gankers/griefers is just that - hysteria! I have been playing ED for about 3 years now across all three platforms, and the amount of times I have been attacked by another player completely unprovoked is absolutely minimal. Some act as if there are gankers/griefers around every corner. For the first six months of playing ED I was too scared to go into Open due to the hysteria surrounding it. Then one day I decided to see what it was really like. Now I rarely play in Solo or PG. Open is nothing like the scaremongers would have you believe.

Why can't the gankers go off and indulge their lousy habit in Clash Of Clans or Boom Beach on the tablets, rather than impinging their idea of fun on players who want to enjoy the game for other than combat.
Because they thrive on the reactions. The more enrage, the more enjoyment. Any public commenting is a plus, they're attention seekers.

While cannot condone Private Group attacks, I can say that it is clear people have not followed the advice given by me and many others on how to fit an exploration ship to survive the average gank...

Fair gamplay in OPEN. Breaking rules in a PvE private group where PvP is clearly forbidden it's just childish.

There's of course a reason why not everyone is following your guide:
Family and private life:
if I could afford playing the game at least 2 hours everyday I would follow your guide. I would have a slower but more realistic build, that's for sure. Also my RPG would benefit from it.
People joining PG can maybe play less... Let's say 1 hour/day and not everyday. ED and DW2 is a game for these people too. If you can't jump at least 55-60 LY per jump you can't follow the expedition progress with the other players. I have a 62 LY range ship and in the last 3 weeks I just jumped and refueled without scanning to be at the WP's in time. Again, because I can't play more than 1 hour and not even everyday.
These people, like me, still wish to meet other players but don't want to take any risk in PvP, so that's why there's no shame in flying a thin foil for 65k LY, but there is shame in violating clear rules.

Also, 'all the way' to Beagle Point isn't exactly a strenuous journey for a bunch of Kraits in the current incarnation of the game.

It is for me! My ship has half the jump range.

Because I like playing Elite like this, blaze your own trail and such :)
I do not even have any of these games, or a tablet for that matter. In any case it is irrelevant. If you play in open then there is the risk of running into other people. Some of these people will try to explode your ship. Why do these people not use the other modes instead?

Can you link to your advice please? (If, of course, it is published in a guide form). I would be interested in reading it. Thanks.

There was someone who wanted to make a name for themselves last time, too. That person's name was never mentioned and rightfully so. They do it for the recognition.
Fleetcom gets fooled by this sort of thing all the time. In the name of being all inclusive and not appearing to be discriminatory. Trust no hollow shapes on your radar, even in Fleetcom.
Having said that, it is a fair bit safer than total open.

I guess it was something about flying in an open fit ship, like this one: https://s.orbis.zone/2sp2 - DG2-certified.
(The pacifiers and FSD interdictor were added after Explorer's Anchorage)

Does not surprise me at all. I left fleetcom after being accused of being a distant griefer 2 mole and copping abuse for stuff I wasn't involved in and didn't even know about because I'm a fairly casual player. It was probably distant griefer moles stirring up trouble in fleetcom from the start.
Just reminded me of all the drama in eve online, only with no real tools to control the private group.
So solo for me.
No salt involved, I just can't be bothered with silly nonsense in a spaceship flying spaceships game.
This is one of the reasons why I'd love to see a PvE mode that has nothing to do with being a primarily PvE player - it'd take PvE out of the hands of the organisers of these private groups. No more nonsense of "we're kicking you out of our clubhouse even though you have no intent of actually doing any PvP, because we disagree with how you play in open".

I was giving the advice within fleetcomm discord, both in voice and text format... unfortunately some the admins there do no like me and felt I was a detriment to the event before it had even began and I was removed after being in Fleetcomm for a good year now, both PG and Discord, so while I would link my DW2 specific builds I do not have them anymore as they where on the Fleetcomm discord and have been since deleted by the admins.

By the way, kicking you and others was also olish (to stay at my wording from my first post in this thread).
The correct way to do it would have been to wait IF anyone ganks in fleetcom and then kick them.

No proplem. Thanks for answering anyway. (y)

Without taking this to far off topic, I agree... it was dealt with in a very poor way, Yes I gank people but I am very open about my intentions and given my desire to see players put up a better fight it made sense that I offered to defend the best I could from PG and offer build advice for those who would take it. at the end of the day though this entire event was a platform for a special few not the community inclusiveness we where sold by them or Fdev.

I can understand their point tough. If I would see you in my same Fleetcomm instance I would immediately switch to another instance while playing in my thin foil explorer. I would not take the risk. Fleetcomm admins tought the very same probably.

At the end of the day that is your call to make and I respect your right to chose not to play with me by switching mode or instance within the limits of the game(Not in combat), but the admins and frontier both claimed an inclusive event, I respected their call to remove me from the PG and I continued to do my trip in open though upon doing so I was then attacked on the discord by the admins and as such removed when I ignored them and didn't retaliate as they expected I would.

So while the average explorer might not have an malice towards me by switching mode or instance, the admins on the discord simply did not want me there because of their own personal reasons and issues they have with me out of the game.

And shame on Braben and the rest of the developers for allowing the game to include this mechanic and doing precious little to stop the process other than sitting on their hands and chuckling at the misfortune of others. The misfortune will be theirs when people stop buying their add-ons or a new version and go play elsewhere.

Don't be too hard on FDEV. Regarding design, they are not quick learners, but they do learn (Changes to Engineers and Starter system).
The day, they have enough game data showing that Ganking (Open or PG) affect player retention and potential revenues, they'll address it.

Until then, the only thing you can do, is like me: Cheers and get a load of Laugh for any new "Operation" or "Content creation" delivered :)

While I see your post is nothing more than a jab at players like me its funny we both have the same interests at heart, I would love to see better C&P and a working bounty hunting system but lets be honest, we are getting none of them.

Ganking is the ONE thing that works constantly in Elite.

I'm real life upset that I missed this thread at its zenith.
The first page delivers.

Anyhoo, let's say I travel all the way out to Bagel Point (1) and 10 minutes after entering the system I get ganked by a Fleetcom buddy.
Where do I respawn? If within 100ly of Bagel Point I see no real issues here. If that is the case, getting ganked way out there is no different than getting ganked in Eravate.

1: You'd have to name it that for me to make the trip.

It's all in good fun, like you have in-game. And yeah, I love (past tense would be more fitting) the game as much as you and would love it to be something else than what it is now. Bitterness from LTP ownership, I guess.

I believe you spawn at the last station you docked at.

You respawn at the last station where you docked. Could be back in the bubble for some. And you lose any un-sold exploration data/discoveries.
