PvP Gankers in Fleetcomm at Beagle Point

You have no idea where Beagle Point is, do you? I'm not even close yet, but I've not seen a station for over... 15,000ly? If you know of a route to BP that has stations every couple hundred lys, please do share that with the rest of us.
I know very little about the game.
Yes, if you put in 15,000ly of travel only to get ganked and sent back that would be horrible.

I'm actually LOL right now at the thought of getting ganked after 15,000ly of travel.
Why on earth would anyone make that trip in open?

At this point I'm not sure sure why anyone would make the trip in Fleetcomm.

Because they can and will (For the tasty explorer meat with more than enough salt to go with it)

Well... that's sort of the whole point of this thread isn't it? People have been making the journey in a private group which does not allow PvP, only to be killed by people who lied to get into the group and take advantage of people not expecting to be attacked.

So one important strategy would be to dock every couple hundred light years, sell data, and anchor the work you've put into your journey.
That is something I'll be sure to do if ever I head out that way.
But you can't. Not beyond the galactic center, anyway. No stations out this way.

Z...

I wouldn't invest weeks of playtime (with no save point) in a group where I wouldn't trust each member with my kids.
I've been playing online games for 20 years - I wouldn't put you in a group to BP unless I'd met you IRL.
This whole thing is tragic and funny.

So while the average explorer might not have an malice towards me by switching mode or instance, the admins on the discord simply did not want me there because of their own personal reasons and issues they have with me out of the game.
I don't think the problem is with you out of the game (this would be childish, I agree). We're all playing as characters here and the discord channels are part of this illusion.
In this RPG you should consider it as an achievement, cause you wanted to play the role of the most feared CMDR in the Elite Galaxy and you achived it, with pros and cons.
Fleetcomm is an island outside this RPG so your character has simply no reason to be there.

If I were the leader of the biggest expedition to (un)known space, I'd rather have the most feared CMDR in the Elite Galaxy on my side, then on the other side, though

Yup, and that's the very same thing that Salome escort thought!

"Ars Technica points out, if you’re gonna have anybody help defend a mostly helpless ship against other players, you might as well go with the folks who specialize in“radically unfair, mechanic-exploiting PvP combat.” "

As far as I saw (watched the video yesterday from the view of one of Salomés wingmates) no one thought Potter would be an escort, they instantly assumed he's an enemy?

Keep in mind this event was partly run by Frontier themselves, the event was also claimed to be open to ALL players regardless of playstyle, my playstyle meant I would do the trip in open, there was no reason to remove me from their discord for the event as I broke none of their rules but the admins of that discord simply did not like me... infact I was booted while I was giving advice to others in voice.

The problem was entirely out of game... and at the end of the day they had the power to remove me from a Frontier run event and used that power to get one over on me, or so they think anyway.

I watched that movie. Salome and wingmates where pathetic. And it's not about skills. It's in general how to play this game. Same thing with CareBears on DW2, oh man I really regreat that I was defending them on start. Now we have new opportunity but how to gank voting 😅?

I see now... you refer to this:
"besieger1 ℋ𝓪𝓻𝓻𝔂 𝓟𝓸𝓽𝓽𝒆𝓻 | I killed Salomé | EDShipyard Developer
what if we where removed from the roster because of our playstyle and still make it to beagle?
Well being removed from the roster and not being able to log your expedition is not fair as long as you follow the game rules. This is, again, a clear evidence that ganking with the current C&P is a serious issue for a category of players.
Anyway you should seriously consider my reply there, next time make a parallel event with Distant Ganking ;)

This thread exploded in the direction I expected it to. No, user-controlled restrictions for other PGs is not a good idea.

Sadly that's very true. In my personal dealing with Besieger, I have no reason to dislike or distrust him. But I can understand not feeling comfortable with him in the loop in an event which for months prior had been talked about as a target for greifers. It's a damned of you do, damned if you don't scenario. Take him along and get blamed when he pulls a Salome, don't take him and get blamed for prejudging him. That time, they erred on the side of caution.

What you say is correct. The reputation is fun to have, but it has consequences.

It doesn't help his cause that even before the event was underway, all those who were thrown out proved the organizers right by their actions and the glee with which they took them. Actions do speak louder than promises.

AFAIK Beagle Point is a minimum of 60,000 LY from the nearest Bubble hard save point, maybe a bit less from Colonia. It's probably a minimum of three weeks travelling playing ~2 hours a day and taking a part neutron course, far longer if you head round the western rim then go star to star across the Formidine Rift and The Abyss as I just did. That is good wholesome fun but still carries some element of risk - one wrong jump into a deadend system or careless inattention during a fuel scoop and... trip over.

There's not even a space or ground port at Beagle Point so it's 60 kylies or more back before you can get a hard save and cash in your data.

It is a long trip there and back again. The galaxy is smaller than it used to be but it is still a fair investment for a player that doesn't or can't dedicate 6hr per day.

This is good information.
I spoke out of turn.

I'd be hesitant to take the trip without save points simply because of game glitches.
Ya'll are crazy.
