I'm sort of surprised how many people seem to use geforce experience? Has it become required in recent drivers? I very deliberately don't install that stuff, and for my 1050Ti i still had that option last time i checked (around jan of this year).
OK I had unsubscribed but Alec Reped me and I came back to see why and saw your post.
Yes. I think GeFe is now mandatory. My Nvidia Driver has updated to 391.35 and I am now unable to uninstall GeFe 3.13.1.30 and I am TICKED!!!!
I am still on Win 7 because I want to control what and when stuff is installed on my computer and I want to know what kind of information is being collected and what it is being used for so I have been fighting MS ever since the Win10 release to keep MS from putting any of the Win10 Malware on either of my machines.
In the process of trying to get GeFe to work, I had done a windows Update check to see if maybe MS has something that was designed to my the GeFe work better/right on this 990 Dell. There was a specific one for Nividia so I selected it.
Don't know how MS did it but, they snuck 4 updates into the que that are on my list of Win 10 Malware and when I shut my computer down last night, they were installed. I spent my morning rolling back to a restore point and reinstalling/setting up OBS and LightScreen.
For those who might be confused about my refusal to run Win10, I also have never had Facebook and now I am very glad. Read up on what MS is collecting with Win10 and what they are doing with it. Everything points to MS wanting to do the same kinds of things FaceBook has been doing. Many reports of advertising showing up on home screens that seem to be targeted based on browser history which MS has admitted to collecting.
My sincerer long term hope for Frontier and EDH is that they will work with GOG and create a Linux version.
That is why I chose OBS to do the recordings and LightScreen to do low res screen shots. Both have Linux distributions.
YMMV

Ok, Downloaded and installed Graphics Driver 388.13 on both the 790 and 990. I DID NOT LET IT MAKE a desktop icon or launch GeFe.
That overwrote the GeFe 3.13.1.30 with 3.10.x.x. which I was able to immediately uninstall using the Windows Control Panel Programs Uninstaller.
Now off to make new Restore Points on both machines.
My present opinion is that the combination of 391.35 and GeFe 3.13.1.30 is poison on my Dell Win 7 machines.
Bye bye..
Thank again to those who tried. Hope this helps someone else.
