Generation Ship Thetis found

Man it would be awesome if we could actually dock and walk around on those things. Guess I have some morbid fascination with derelict things... and some serious Reaver vibes from that series ...

Congratulations on your find.

I feel like each log contains some hints to a location/secret we have yet to discover. Maybe the position of those generation ships might play a big part in this or it is just my imagination.

What is the deal with all these generation ships? They *all* lost their entire population?

I mean, really.... :/

There are apparently ones out there that didn't, though why we haven't run across at least one yet is disconcerting.

Three possibilities come to mind

a) The Circling Poets were behind the original launches. These are all variants on the B Ark.
b) Space is Dangerous.
c) Selective reporting. We only get to discover the failures. The ones that got through would have landed everyone on a planet, formed a colony, and the ships being full of useful metal been broken up for the resources.

I'm hoping it's c)

I tend to agree... Werent these ships well catalogued and protected? As in noone was allowed to get close?

It makes sense though doesn't it? The ones that didn't die would probably have completed their missions by now and would not be in space to find. We are only ever going to find the unlucky ones for the most part.

We are only finding the ones that didn't survive their journeys.

Yeah, of course. Still I wouldn't mind some more variety in storytelling. I mean, they're basically all identical, right down to the number of logs and how each log entry presents a deteriorating situation on board the ship.

When the first ship was found I rushed off to go visit it. I think now I'll just read about them second hand.

About 70,000 of them were launched over the course of a few hundred years. The majority of them made their trips successfully.

Well Dav Stott in his FD Q&A session did say there are elements of civilization that we have not yet discovered .... so maybe there are successful populations of the Missing out there somewhere, but we aren't detecting them.

And we probably won't find them until we can land on earth-like worlds.
