Geological Codex Key

Ive found that figuring out what your going to find at a geological location doesnt always make sense. I decided to write down what it says on the system map, and what it turned out to be when I actually went and used the composition scanner. This should help to at least give an idea what to look for if your looking for a certain geological structure. Please add in comments what you have found and I will add it to the list.
We are now adding the planet type it was found at. We are also adding the highest and lowest temps it was found at as an added variable.
I have now put this into a spreadsheet form. Link below

Where are you getting these major and minor prefix?
Youve added a lot that i already have? Anythat arent on the list already?

I just dumped my whole list; the new ones are:

Water Magma : + Water Ice Fumarole

Carbon Dioxide Geysers : + Carbon Dioxide Geyser

Where are you getting these major and minor prefix?

Out of EDDiscovery, which, in turn, gets it out of the journal files. Not sure if there's any in-game representation of that. EDDI also reads it out so I've not paid less attention to in-game displays for a long time now.

This thread badly needs planet type as a factor.

In my experience carbon dioxide gas vents, sulphur dioxide ice fumarole and silicate vapour ice fumarole can only be found on rocky ice worlds. I collected the full set in Elysian Shore.

Also I'm pretty sure you find the same types depending on the planet type and the volcanism type. Each planet of the same type/volcanism combo almost always has the same 2-3 types of vent/fumarole/geyser/spout.

Not a bad idea, but I do see a potential caveat. Being that these mechanics were very recently added, saying that something can only happen as they have in you experience is a bold statement. I really do like the idea though. Maybe we should work on this list as is for now and when we have a bit more data that can verify the planet requirements, we can add them in. Perhaps planet temp can play a factor as well?
Id love to hear what others think about this idea as well.

Composition scanner? What is that? Currently in deep space scanning my way back to Cubeo from Ratrii

And don't think I have a composition scanner on board my diamondback explorer

I know the srv has it automatically, so if you have an srv, you just need to assign it to a fire group. Im pretty sure its part of the discovery scanner though. If you get to a geological or biological signal, youll know.

Where in EDDiscovery are the POI shown/listed.
