In this case "trail" is "nachführen"(because we talk about weapon). And the other "lead" is "vorhalten"...correct.

Btw...where can you see this? Lol...I too have no option and no patch...

You can't see it in game yet. It's in the screenshot from the newsletter.

Voller Freude geben wir bekannt, dass die Premium-Beta 2 von „Elite: Dangerous“ ins Deutsche übersetzt wurde.

"Schwenkwaffenmodus" -> "Geschützturmmodus" or short "Turmmodus" its clearer to understand what its means.
"Rotierungskorrektur" -> "Rotationskorrektur" or "Rotationsanpassung" sounds better.
"Oberflächenhelligkeit" -> better use "Interface Helligkeit" or short "UI Helligkeit" / "HUD Helligkeit"

and "Frachtgreifer" sounds hmm strange ... whats about "Frachtsammler" or "Frachtaufnahme"

Some good suggestions. I like Frachtsammler.

Thanks@Varity...I missed that picture..or I didnt look at it.

Instead of "Frachtgreifer" it should be simply "Frachtluke". Everybody knows what it means and it sounds less silly^^
Also in other games...and I think in Elite 2 Frontier too it is Frachtluke if you want to pickup cargo.

@Casin:

I agree with "Rotationskorrektur" and "Interface Helligkeit".

Some dont know the short term "UI"...and HUD is normally only used for...you know..HUD:D But this is a complete Cockpit, not only a head up display.
So "Interface Helligkeit" sounds the best for me.

Thanks to FD for getting a localization
We do not want to criticize your work, we just want to help and make sure that ED is as good as possible :)

Anstatt "Interfacehelligkeit" könnte man "Cockpit-Beleuchtung" oder eher "Instrumenten-Beleuchtung" verwenden. Oder wenn man sich wirklich nur auf das HUD beziehen will "HUD Helligkeit"

I guess "Beleuchtung" (lighting) could be used instead of "Helligkeit" (brightness). If you only mean the HUD you can use the term (I don't know of any good translation for it): "HUD Helligkeit"

"Frachtgreifer" ist wirklich eine lustige Übersetzung...das ist ganz eindeutig eine "Ladeluke".

"Frachtgreifer" is a really funny translation...what the ships have is clearly a "Ladeluke".

"Rotationsanpassung" wäre hier mein Favorit.

"Rotationsanpassung" would be my choice.

Hm i think "Instrumenten-Beleuchtung" is a little bit to long.
We should find descriptions so short as possible.

And @FD
Please dont translate names of persons or items, ships etc.
A "Burst Laser" should always be a "Burst Laser" and not a "Ladungs Laser" or "Bündel Laser".
We dont want a "Jaina Prachtmeer". ;D
In the description of the Items is enough space to explain whats the difference and how they works.

PS. And Yes: Thanks a lot for the German translation. :D

I thought the wonderful thing with German is that you can just keep adding words to something.;) Luftkissenfahrzeug has long been a favourite of this former Instandsetzungstruppe Unteroffizier.
That is true...one of the advantages of the German language:
Donaudampfschifffahrtskapitänswitwenrente...
:D

Of course...this is just for ourselve, no critism :)

Dahhh...yes of course. Not "Frachtluke"(my tranlsation) - "Ladeluke" is correct. German language - difficult language :p

Wie wärs mit Oberstübchenbeleuchtung? :D

I 100% and seriously agree with that. Nothing more absurd than translated names and terms.

Looks like we're going to need a bigger monitor.;)
Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz
(Yes that is "cheating" by compounding nouns.)

Hi!
Thanks for the german translation - I would like to add my thoughts, too.

Some of the below mentioned words sound better, although the original translation might be more correct.

I watch a lot of science fiction movies and TV series, and do prefer 'the english original', but if we can help to translate, then let us help. ;-)

BTW: Many english words are already used in german texts and normally don't need to be translated , like 'interface' or 'display'...
This reminds me of a very early Novell Netware Class, where we tried to figure out what 'Aktenbediener' meant... ('file server'... :D)

Maybe we could find somehow a way to put the discussed translations up to vote?

These are my thoughts, mostly from the righthand interfaces, some from the docking interface:

**used translation** - **better Translation (IMHO)**

Raketenschiene - Raketenwerfer
Nahrungskartusche - Nahrungswürfel
Gelände-Bereicherung - Erdreichaufwerter // Erdreichverbesserer
Schotten - Schotts (this is the correct plural form)
Kardanischer ... - Kardan-... (instead of 'Kardanischer Impulslaser' just 'Kardan-Impulslaser')
Bundeskampfschiff - Föderaler Kampfraumer // Föderales Kampfschiff(although the original translation might be correct, it sounds awfully like Bundeswehr...)
Kraftwerk - Reaktor
Energieverteiler - Energieverteilung
Sensorset - Sensorphalanx
Mehrfachgeschütz - Gatlingkanone // Gatlinggeschütz (see http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gatling_(Waffenklasse) )
Raumverlagerungsantrieb - Hyperraumantrieb // Frameshift Antrieb // Verlagerungsantrieb // Rasterschubantrieb // ... (this is open to debate, since there is no 'correct' translation, for it is a 'new' word, I then prefer part of the original name 'Frameshift Antrieb')
Wärmestrahlung - Abwärmeregulierung // Wärmeregulierung (because you use this to reduce the heat of the engine)
Tötungen - Abschüsse (sounds less negative)
Verbrechen - Strafregister (sounds less negative)
Rotierungskorrektur - Rotationskorrektur // Rotationshilfe
Sensorformat - Sensorskalierung ('linear' or 'logarithmisch')
Gruppierung - Fraktion
Frachtgreifer - Frachtluke (you should keep to the same names, when you adress the same thing)
Oberflächenhelligkeit - UI Helligkeit // HUD Helligkeit // Display Helligkeit
Schiffsbeleuchtung - Scheinwerfer (do you actually lighten up the ship, or do you just have a search beam?)
Materiehalt - ...no idea. each words sounds equally weird. 'Massesperre', 'Massehalt'... anyone some ideas?
Sternenhafen - Raumhafen // Sternendock (although 'Sternhafen' is ok too, but sounds a bit oldschool, like from 'Raumpatroullie Orion')
festes Geschütz - starres Geschütz (i hope they all are 'fest' :D)
Lage ('Proxy') - 'Nähe' or 'stellares Objekt' or something like that...
hochdrosseln - beschleunigen :p

BTW: shipnames sound somehow a lot better, if they are 'feminine'. Just like 'die ENTERPISE' or 'die ORION' or 'die VOYAGER'.
for example: 'die PURPURNER TRIUMPH', 'die UNGLÜCKSBRINGER'

BTW: Combat Missions:
Aufklärungsflügel - Aufklärungsflüge ;-)

BTW:
'Frachtluke' sounds ok to me.
'Salvenlaser' for 'burst laser' sounds fine to me, too.

Thank you again, and greets,
-Dreamer

Please dear FD. Get a german guy for translation - dont use Google or any other translator :D

Funny translations ingame. But..:D

Raumverlagerungsantrieb - Sprungantrieb / Sprungtriebwerk

Materiehalt - Objektinterferenz / Masseninterferenz (I prefer Masseninterferenz)
Sternenhafen-Dienste - Stationsdienste
Sternenhafen - Raumstation

mfg

PROX in the HUD "Lage" - Annäherungswarnung / Abstandswarnung /*(Nah (To be short) / Zu Nah) / ANW or ASW
But to be honest you can´t translate Prox (Proximity) with one word in German. Let it be PROX and write something in your manual.
Most germans will understand what PROX mean and dont have to read it anyway.

*I don´t think that one of these are good.

Hm, sure that "Schotts" is the right plural?
I remember some messages like "Alle Schotten dicht!" etc. ;)

And "Salvenlaser"? Please no!
It's the same thing as in EVE: Names of Items, Ships, Characters etc. should not be translated because in Multiplayer you need the original Name for trading or small talk. ;)

btw. "Aufklärungsflügel" should be correct, in english the scenario is called "Recon Wing" and not "Recon Flight".
