I expect that Carriers will offer many opportunities for PwP in non-combat roles - so they should indeed offer opportunities for rather enjoyable multi-player (in both multi-player modes, I'd expect).
Yep, just like I'm not "working" on a possible sticky post because I think my opinion is so great that everyone needs to see it.
And Squadrons, not here yet, but eagerly anticipated by the EPIC MUTLIPLAYER crowd.
no amount of C/P, or incentive, or anything else is going to get me to play in open.
Trust me, fear has NOTHING to do with it.
Unfortunately, that's true. FD have tried to please the PvP crowd and for whatever reasons I can't completely comprehend, it's never enough and not good enough, so the PvPers keep complaining and want more. At least the next season now is focused on other things, things that all other categories of players can enjoy as well.In all fairness, FD don't have a great track record of adding content that makes the multiplayer crowd happy. I suspect some disappoint is in store because it doesn't turn out to be what people are expecting
Maybe you should. It might cut down on the number of threads that get created on the subject

Trust me it does. You are afraid someone is gonna blow up your ship. It really is that simple.

Fear? In a video game that we play in the comfort and safety of our preferred gaming environment?
I doubt it.
Avoiding the tedium of the predictable outcome of being attacked in a ship that isn't optimised for combat (because there's more to do in this game than combat - only one of the paths to Elite requires the player to fire a shot, after all) by a ship optimised for PvP combat - certainly.

Equally, you seem to be afraid you'll have nobody to play with
... Like many others, if ED was just Open only, a large user base wouldn't be playing at all from the start.
...
That's what "git gud" means. Buy the biggest ship. Engineer it to heck and beyond. Go find some sidewinders fitted for trading. Chase and shoot them. That's how you ace the git gud concept.Another point I've put forth. When a PvP ship that's fitted specifically to engage others does so with a PvE fitted ship - they have COMPLETE advantage. They initiate combat, knowing full well they can overcome another ship, when they have things like Military Slots, and numerous weapon hardpoints, whereas a humble trading ship with (maybe) shields and armor and very little in the way of weapon hardpoints and expect the other ship to "defend" itself.
Oh but that takes "skill". Mmmhmm.
Yes, you are afraid that someone is going to blow up your ship. Doesn't get much simpler than that.
Not at all. I'm not afraid of someone blowing up my pretend spaceship and want the game to give appropriate rewards.
Ya'll can do whatever you want.
Probably true. Wasn't there a bunch of people getting peved because the Off-line version wasn't implemented? It is even more profound than this...
I strongly believe that this game would not have reached its Kickstarter goal without Solo Mode being a deliberate and fundamental design criterion.
Basically, if there were no Solo Mode, I firmly believe that there would be No Elite: Dangerous.
Sylveria writes awesomeness.

And if what others want to do is leave you lost, forlorn and lonely in an instance all by your very own, with only NPC's for company?
Emergent gameplay right there
