Get Rid of the Galaxies Worst Crime and Punishment System

Completely agree on the absurdity of even smaller fees/bounties being a "WANTED DEAD" warrant. Up to a bounty of several thousand, the fees should be more like a speeding ticket or something. You pay it promptly and be done with it. If you don't, there's an added fee. And if you still don't, only then you're treated like a true criminal.

What comes to the C&P, cleaning ships etc... I think it would be much better, if the monetary penalties weren't terribly high, but notoriety lasted longer. More importantly, instead of a "forced" game mechanic, the game should just encourage vigilantes and bounty hunters to go after notorious commanders more. Definitely make it easier to track them down: start with just adding a time stamp to the "last seen" reports on bounty boards. Go on from there: add gadgets or other ways of actively looking/tracking someone (hire spies or install detectors on stations and/or beacons), ability for players to pay bounties on notorious commanders etc.

I think it would be really cool, if commanders going vigilante was encouraged and supported by the game mechanics.

I'd agree with this, we do definatly need ingame tools to hunt down the crims and for that matter, some kind of system that allows you to track the people who have iced you in the last say 12 hours, maybe even 24, it encourages optional PvP.

Though my biggest worry with that is that, at least on my platform, the gankers hide in solo until they know they have more numbers on side, otherwise they do everything they can to avoid retribution. Unfortunatly this leads to a large proportion of them haveing unbearably MASSIVE egos.

To circumvent that, i's advocate for a system that prevents Cmdrs from using any other mode other than open if they have noteriety points on their head.

Yep', agree. PvP crimes? PvP mode only for you.

Straight up thats what they should have done from the off with the C&P changes seeing as they were primarily set up to reduce greifing :/

I'd also advocate for the game to differentiate between a 1v1 and a 4v1 gank, if its the latter, the penalties should be utterly horrendous. As it stands the same wings who hide in solo when they don't have numbers to support them spend most of thier night killing unarmed traders and trying (Failing so hard) to kill ships smaller, or less engineered than them.

Well that is not really gonna do it, but I would agree that you are stuck in the game mode you where when you got your notoriety level above 0. So if you where in open, you stuck until it is 0 again, if you where in solo, you stuck in solo....

So this will not in any way force anybody to change game mode, like solo players being forced into open, and if the griefer etc, goes racking up clean kills in open, they cannot hide in Solo to let if all go away.

So tired of paying off a 400 credit bounty and getting sent 4 jumps away to a detention facility when I have ZERO notoriety. Come on guys this is ridiculous. Oh...and I'm in a ship to big for ANY interstellar factors facility.

Every change you guys make is to take more time or burn more credits. Sad customer service.

Well let see spray and pray dose no pay. A idea for you is slow down and Monitor your radar while in combat. So you avoid hitting other ships.

I always boost out of (and into) the slot - never been fined...

Z...

Same here, but there were at least two opportunities when I crashed into another ship which I didn't notice before and it simply exploded while I got a small fine. I even collected the mats...

Why do people never get tired of uttering such nonsense. Fighting in a small or medium ship in a high intensity combat zone, in the middle of the furball and turning faster than some ice cubes in a whiskey tumbler, but in three dimensions instead of one, while trying to hit a fast moving target with fixed weapons, you keep your eyes on the radar watching out for that suicidal NPC that will cross your line of fire the next second... sure. Dream on, mate

Think of it this way.

If you're a police officer, or a soldier, and you're in the middle of a firefight, and a team mate is unloading fire at a target - do you decide to run between the person firing their weapon and the target? No. In fact, I've seen a few people with military/police for experience, or with a father that has served post that such person would essentially be responsible for their own death.

The reality is, we don't get fined because we don't check our fire, we get fined because the software can't tell if we're attacking the "clean" AI or not.

I've previously suggested what I call a "cone of stupid", which is basically a cone that extends out from the front of the ship, and if your guns are active when a ship enters that cone (with the velocity being into the cone), then any damage from any existing fire is deemed to be the fault of the ship entering the cone.

Yeah, this makes sense, I was really only writing from the open perspective, but this is a much cleaner version. Rep+

Thing is it Not nonsense. When Elite released I could control my fire to the point I could stay in an area for hours without hitting other targets. It only required one Bullet or laser shot to get a bounty. But we have players are so focus on one target We can call it tunnel vision skill. Which must be what you rely on.

Well maybe you should stop Whiskey drinking and start flying and focus on combat. Instead of relying on tunnel vision skills and start monitoring what around you. Radar and Sound. When I hear Chaff go off I stop firing. I know when ship come in my view. I can hear they come in range.

It's absolutely unbelievable that cops will kill you because of a 400 credit bounty because they flew into your line of fire.

Stop it already!

Last time I shot a fly-by I got a fine due to something something (not careful?) discharge. But it was a fine. Obviously they do have some damage threshold before deciding it was a deliberate attack and putting a bounty on our head.

Well you would be surprised with how many people that does something stupid but will not admit to them doing something stupid, like in this case, take their ship into the line of fire, and since they have the badge, they will now accuse you to be the one at fault and use the "law" to make you pay for their own stupidity....

It was the same with the authority ships near stations that would just fly into your side, regardless if you where speeding or not! And if they could, the gave you the ticket for reckless flying.... I am pretty sure they where playing with their new tablets instead of checking where they where going... I think I saw a ban on tablets for use while in the pilot seat for authority ship, and now much of this problem have gone away...

Iv just got bored of the whole thing now. Ships that shoot at me die. When i have ground out my combat rank ill dump my ship. There is a good chance my bounty will be more than the cost of a new anaconda by the time im done but thats ok ill trade the credits back and be on my way. Ridiculous nonsense that it is. Boring and immersion breaking, who ever dreamed up that C&P system just wanted to grief people.
