Getting a ship inside the habitat ring

Is it still possible to get a small ship inside the habitat ring of an Orbis space station?

Along while back a Commander posted a video of just such an occurrence and it looked pretty fun. The last time I tried it in a Sidey all I did was basically just bounce off of the structure. There must have been a trick to it.

I just did a YouTube search and went thru 29 pages of vids but didn't find the vid in question. Though my GoogleFu is strong I guess my search string was not in this instance.

I remember watching that video when I was relatively new to the game, which must be a good two years ago Sneaux! I have searched as well but sadly also can't find an appropriate term that yields success. Although this post largely has pointless value, I thought I would still write it and let you know that I am also intrigued!!

Cheers,
The Hat :)

My guess is it would have been Isinona who did it.
Not sure if this what you're looking for:

I think this is the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWOV3b6rd5Y - but I'm not sure if it is the original, which had comments on how the maker got his Eagle through the ring's canopy.

I believe the entry method was later locked in a patch.

Thank you Andovar. I hadn't actually seen the one above with the Coriolis, but asidefrom that what it shows is exactly what I had in mind, but done on the big O-ring / habitation ring, part of the other types of large starports [I won't write down which name comes to mind or I will get snidy sniping lol!!]. But yes very good and similar - exactly what I had in mind personally, but I cannot say for Broondog.

Cheers mate,
The Hat :)

I knew there were more details on coriolis stations that I could see from afar, but oh my. The levail of detail is impressive. It actually feels like flying a huge aircraft in a really dense city! I actually lost myself in it from 2:10!

Yeah, I guess i wasn't paying close enough attention to the starport type in the OP.
I didn't think there was any open areas to get inside an actual ring. Though based on Walter2's post, it seems if there was a way at some point, it's since been patched.

I think I might try this with my Keelback and a SLF. They're smaller than a sidey, so should be able to get into some tight spots. :)

I remembered doing that with the older camera system. Trying it now results in a fuzzy image and 'LOST SIGNAL' instead. In the old system you just had to get close enough to not hit anything moving past you and them nudge the debug camera inside the ring.

It would be great to have a few derelict stations where we could fly around inside. I've tried getting in where Isinona did (though I had no idea about his vid) but my piloting skills aren't up to it.

Imagine dog fights inside these.

I did this some time ago in a small ship (sidey or cobra) You could fly thru the glass..... may have been "fixed" since

While this is not the vid I am looking for, I have seen this one and it is way cool. I actually tried this out shortly after viewing it and while I was not as good a pilot at the time (or maybe even still not) as the maker it was good fun.

I found this one today as well in my search but in this one the flight path is too static. In the one I am looking for the pilot was doing maneuvers and such and even started outside the ring and "broke thru" in the beginning. Still good stuff tho.

I remember that, I think the video has gone now unfortunately (I found a few broken links) but I'm pretty sure this was the original description of how it was done ...

This is much closer to my memory of the vid short of the "break thru" part. The pilot flew up next to buildings and even flirted with the support struts and other objects.

Many thanks to all who did a search, whether fruitful or not. I am also glad I am not the only one who remembers the vid. It was really cool at the time and would still be now.

I tried getting into a ring today in a sidey and all I got for it was a 30% hull after getting bounced around and tossed away by the structure.

Hmmmm, maybe a stronger ship would work better? :D

We often use the trenches around the coriolis stations for training guys in FA-off. Great places to have fun around.

Wait! That was YOU guys??? Jeeezz, my mom was hanging up clothes in the closet and they have one of those window units and she was calling me up screaming that a couple of ships were buzzing her window! One guy (she said) held still outside the window staring at her in a lewd manner for a few seconds before flying off. She was hysterical and security had to come by with a medic and tranquilize her. Sheesh!
