This is gotta be the dumbest question you probably ever read but I really don't know how to get back on the ship or what button you push. I'm using the Hotas one for in-flight controls and for my odyssey controls steam has a pre-configuration that will configure your Xbox controller for you how well it works I don't really know yet but when trying to get back on the ship I know that you just go to the blue area and it says to use "??" To board ship now I don't know if that double? Means that you don't have it mapped in your controller or what but now I'm stuck and can't get back on my ship any help would be great. Also I opted to skip the Odyssey intro because I couldn't get my controller to work and now I wish I can do the intro for Odyssey so I can learn the basics for that. Anyone know how to go back to that.

For me the default "action" key for on foot is "E". Its been that way since Odyssey launch IIRC.
The "??" probably indicates that there is no key/button bound to that function. But it may just be that you need to save them again after you change it to the same thing...
You can check by ESC/Options/Controls/Foot Controls (or whatever its really called) and look for the interactions button, or whatever its really called.

If you can't bind E or whatever primary action key, you can start the game in Horizons and be in your ship.
The Odyssey intro mission is available from your ship at any time, on the right hand panel under training.
