Getting first discovered after update

I'm a little confused about first discoveries.
I am far about 4000 ly away from the bubble. If I honk, and go to the system view, and put the cursor on a star, should it show 'first discovered' if it has been discovered already? Or does this show in a different view somewhere.

Second, how do I get first discovered on a star. I just flew to a system, there is nothing there except the star I jumped to (no other planets etc, it is a lone star system).
I just honk and jump away. Get back to the bubble and sell my data and I will get first discovered on it? Or do I have to use the fss, because it doesn't allow me to do anything with the star. And the surface scanner just sends probes that get eaten by the star.

Thank you!! o7

Ok, thanks. Wanted to make sure before getting all the way back and finding out I messed up. I hate jumping, but have to do the 5000+ for the engineer :)

System view or viewing the body in the FSS will show you if the body has been discovered and/or mapped before ;)
